Mario Tarradell Dallas Morning News The Man Who Copied unfolds into a movie with a split personality, and the second half is no reproduction of the first. Rated: B Jul 7, 2005 Full Review Jeff Strickler Minneapolis Star Tribune This Brazilian film starts as a quirky romantic comedy before suddenly becoming a violent crime drama. It's a radical turn, so much so that it almost goes over a cliff. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 30, 2005 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe Even after it loses its way, the movie suggests a world where anything can happen and no one -- certainly not the girl of one's dreams -- is quite who he or she seems to be. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 24, 2005 Full Review Prairie Miller Long Island Press It takes a lot of wit and heart to make an engaging and ferociously funny movie out of a dull dead end job. But Brazilian director Jorge Furtado pulls it off nicely. Jun 2, 2007 Full Review Kevin Lally Film Journal International Ultimately produces a ragged facsimile of film noir clichs. Feb 26, 2007 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com has enough heart to make most hopeless romantics weep with joy. Rated: 3/5 Sep 7, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Moises G Não esperava muito do filme, mas fui surpreendido, achei divertido e o final me deixou de queixo caído. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/18/24 Full Review ANDERSON G "O Homem que copiava" manages to mix an intelligent script, good performances and a simple and captivating direction, using several visual resources and with a great power of persuasion, the brilliant gaucho director Jorge Furtado manages to make the viewer belong to his work through of their characters. The script initially starts working with a simple narrative, telling the story of a passionate young man who seeks money to run away with his beloved, in a way it is even a simple plot that will be built into something dirty and criminal, with a cast of magnificent support, and great texts, we have outstanding characters, a great timeline, several breaks in expectations and a clever ending that speaks to one of the most classic scenes in the film, the scene of "Andre following the bus" is a perfect narrative joke . As already mentioned, the supporting characters are excellent and their actors give life to them with special touches and their own gestures, highlighting Luana Piovani and Pedro Cardoso, another nice point to comment is the sad photography combined with a sad and old location chosen for filming the movie, everything combines with a sad and depressing atmosphere. "The man who copied" is far from being a perfect film, some continuity errors exist, but even with a clear simplicity the feature works. Grade 8/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/13/21 Full Review Audience Member Smart, funny, incredibly acted, a genius direction and a great plot twist makes The Man Who Copied a masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member É um filme top..
