The dual plotline never really works. There isn't enough happening in either man's life and the parallels are too obvious. Go to Full Review

Unique C @uniquecliches Dec 31 This movie follows the rise and fall of two men in the entertainment industry: a soccer player and a singer. The soccer player’s life is relatively less developed. Perhaps the hope was that his sad eyes and his insistence on becoming a coach would suffice to characterize his life. In contrast, the singer’s life is far more layered, yet not significantly easier. Both men face their own challenges and personal struggles in a world where no one is truly free. The movie, most of all, is a portrait of two likable men—a poetic and pleasant portrait, despite its choppy narrative. La scena iniziale de "La grande bellezza" (in cui Servillo balla in mezzo alla gente) ricalca moltissimo una scena di questo film in cui, sempre Servillo, balla in discoteca attorniato da ragazze.
