Patrick Nevil (Pat O'Brien) is an investigator for the U.S. Treasury, sent to Mexico to keep an eye on muckraking journalist Agnes Stuart (Ruth Warrick), who is looking into a counterfeiting ring led by Dr. Lilley (Alan Hale). Patrick soon finds that Agnes is after Lilley not for the story, but to avenge her father's murder. Patrick, meanwhile, falls for Agnes and must keep the two out of trouble as things surrounding the ring get increasingly treacherous.
