In the 17th century, Princess Karjan (Patricia Medina) has been displaced from her throne and seeks the help of pirate Edri al-Gadrian (Paul Henreid) to recover her lost kingdom. She offers him gold if they can wrest control back from the conqueror Malek (John Miljan). However, Malek is resourceful and deflects Edri's initial assault. The pair then secretly enters the palace to get their hands on the princess' secret jewels, hoping to sell them in order to launch another offensive against Malek.
