Nathan Lee Village Voice Pootie Tang works, in part, because it doesn't. Which is to say the movie's special success is inextricable from the moments where it blatantly fails. The movie exerts a beguiling charm that can only be explained as the je ne sais quoi of sa da tay. Nov 1, 2011 Full Review Dennis Lim Village Voice A bona fide cult object in the making. Jul 10, 2001 Full Review Geoff Pevere Toronto Star A pretty inspired and consistently witty satirical skewering of three decade's worth of macho black pop cultural clichs. Jul 2, 2001 Full Review Wayne Broadway Black Girl Nerds 'Pootie Tang' seems to have all the earmarks of a film that suffered from too many cooks adding their own special ingredients. Petros T Probably one of the oddest films I have watched. It's pretty clear that it knows how daft it is, yet that somehow doesn't make it funny, which in turn makes me wonder what it is that I'm missing. C.K. himself has apparently denounced "Pootie Tang" as he had zero control over the final cut, but even with that in mind I don't see what would have redeemed it. The jokes are so sparse it's baffling. Come to think of it, it all looks like one big joke, and you may just need to get high to be in on it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review Andrew F Pootie Tang kicks serious butt. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/13/24 Full Review Chett T "Pootie Tang" is one flick that's as mixed up as a jumble sale. It's a wild ride, no denying, but it's a bit like a cracked record—keeps spinning but doesn't hit the right groove. Now, Lance Crouther as Pootie Tang—he's the bee's knees! His style's off the charts, but the flick itself is a bit like trying to tap dance in a minefield. There are chuckles, sure, but the storyline's as shaky as a fella with too many cups of giggle water. Director Louis C.K. aims for the stars with this one, but the comet seems to fizzle out before it reaches the stratosphere. The gags are as zany as a speakeasy on a Saturday night, but they're scattered like spilled giggle water, making it hard to stay on the same page. Some scenes hit the jackpot—a hoot and a half, really—while others are as flat as yesterday's root beer. The script's like a mishmash of jive talk and inside jokes, leaving some folks scratching their noggins instead of busting a gut. The movie's got gumption, no doubt about it. It's like watching a jitterbug contest where some steps are smooth as silk, but others trip over their own feet. You're left cheering for the charm but wishing for a bit more substance, like a hot dog without the mustard. The character of Pootie Tang struts through the scene like he's got the world on a string, but the supporting cast is a mixed bag—some as snappy as a fedora, while others fall flat as a pancake. Ultimately, "Pootie Tang" is a rollercoaster—thrilling highs, but a few too many loop-de-loops. It's a head-scratcher that'll leave you chuckling one minute and scratching your noggin the next. Worth a gander if you're up for a wild ride, but don't expect a smooth cruise down Easy Street. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Danny S I share the same dream with anyone entering into the crypto market, to make great profit and live the best of life. I met with a crypto broker specialist on Quora, we engaged in conversation, checked his review score and it was all great. I was given three packages to choose from, Amateur, Silver, and Gold Premium. I went for Gold since I won't be doing much work besides monitoring my profits. Beginner's startup amount was $5k which I did invest in quickly, within 5 hours I had not less than half a quarter million dollars in my investment account. That enticed me, and I hurriedly invested more, within 5 days, I had invested $385,000.00. Unfortunately, I had invested in a fake trading platform and was on the verge of losing almost half my retirement savings. It got to a point that after much pleading to this trader to give me even half of my initial investment amount instead, he kept insisting I pay more. I had already given up because it would be foolish of me to keep fetching water in a basket. Luck ran on me when I came across scammed victims of Cryptocurrency, Forex, and Binary trading. and how they have been able to recover their stolen money back. I did follow up on their conversation and realized it was all the good handwork of Cyber Genie Hack Pro. I got their contact info: and with all honesty, I will never regret reaching out to them, I will remember it as the day I was given birth again. Cyber Genie helped me recover my stolen money back within the short period of time I consulted them. They restored my smile and my financial stability by recovering all that was in my trading account without leaving a penny for those scammers. A cult classic and it's a tragedy that it has such a low score on here. So many quotable lines. This movie is hilarious. The storyline is on point and the Slap at corporate America is top notch. Pootie Tang deserves a much higher rating. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/09/23 Full Review Stephen W It's a classic must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
