Audience Member Not as compelling as "The Business of Being Born", but insightful, nonetheless. Interesting: an American couple from Washington state to have their baby in Victoria, BC, because it was less expensive to pay BC Medical Services Plan, than it was to pay their private insurance company in the U.S. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Amazing. A must watch. We have been socialized to fear childbirth so corporations can profit. I am not surprised. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Typical example of a filmmaker with an agenda - in this case, pro-natural birth, anti-hospital, anti-pharmaceutical intervention, etc. The Business of Being Born is basically the same movie, but much easier to watch & overall more enjoyable. Too many truncated interviews make the flow of this movie too choppy. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A little heavy-handed and one-sided, but an interesting look at the hospital system and how it treats pregnant women in labor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member This film was okay. Like many of the other films on this topic, it is very one sided. It does make a lot of good points about birth in the US today, but it would have been nice to see this film talk about why births moved to the hospital in the first place. Unfortunately, something changed in society so the hospital is focusing more on convenience rather than just protecting the life of mother and child. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I think everyone should watch this movie specially if you are pregnant or planning on it.
