B.D. J Ending...Can't say it was one of the girls who raced or just a previous tenant with such a vague ending. We don't know the time lapse or the current status of the teammates. No closure on whether racing became part of the program or accepted as a regular participant of the state association. So many openings I was expecting a part two introducing new girls picking up the baton. Had to lower score to 3 but otherwise it had me engaged and hopeful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Audience Member A bit disappointed at the ending when it was not shown who came back to prison but it was a good movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member THINK THAT THIS IS AN ALRIGHT MOVIE 2 WATCH......sure it is nothing special 2 watch, but it is an alright movie 2 watch.......its got a good cast of actors/actresses throughout this movie......I think that Lawrence p beron, Christine biancardi, daurice cummings, yaya dacosta, Charles s Dutton, play good roles/parts throughout this movie.....I think that the director of this drama/real-life/made for tv movie had done a good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie..... The movie is based on the accomplishment of real life coach and prison guard Sergeant Noel Chestnut (later promoted to lieutenant) and the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility's track team he started. The real story took place in California in the 1990s when California's Youth Authority's correction's officer Noel Chesnut started a track team for female inmates throughout the Camarillo area facilities where many of the female offenders had been convicted of murder and robbery. Noel sacrificed a lot to encourage these girls and several of them went on to lead successful lives due to his program. man this is such a really powerful drama movie 2 watch, its got a great cast throughout this movie....man this is such a really really sad movie 2 watch, its got a great cast throughout this movie......man this is such a powerful drama movie 2 watch, it is such a really sad movie 2 watch, but it is such a great movie 2 watch with a good cast throughout this movie..... its got a good soundtrack throughout this movie.....I think that this is such an enjoyable movie 2 watch, with a great cast throughout this movie...... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice movie about interracial teens in jail that become runners to help deal with their issues. Charles S. Dutton did great. Loved Elizabeth Pena, Yaya DaCosta and Zulay Henao. Lovely cast and liked the ending. Inspirational. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This film had the potential to be a real heart-puller; a portrayal of life in a detention centre with gritty realism and raw, heartfelt emotion. It teetered on the edge of that, and never quite made it. Oh, there were glimpses of real frustration, of anger and grief at past memories, but overall the acting didn't draw on much real emotion. The female warden, who is supposed to be a truly tough cookie, is soft as marshmallows by the end of it. There wasn't much genuine emotion behind her acting, and I felt that the 'we love you too, Miss Baker' has to be the most cringeworthy, unrealistic line I have ever had to watch in a film. What happened to change still being believable and in line with someone's already-established character? Ugh, cheese. There were some points, though, which saved this from being buried in the graveyard of Films-I-Never-Want-To-See-Again. The film didn't shy away from addressing the more shadowy aspects of prison life, of the challenges in life that shape and mould a woman, nor the lack of desire to change. I actually appreciated the fact that the ending portrayed one of them returning to prison - not because it isn't disappointing, but following on the end of such a cheesy, high finish the viewer needed to be reminded that reality isn't so simple as a race almost-won. Worth the watch, as it makes you think. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member it's after watching shit like this, i feel like dusting off my old Shotgun and making the front page of the Sun.
