Oct 14, 2019 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A wicked dose of horror for anyone in the mood for a short but sweet genre entry. May 26, 2011 Full Review Mike Scott Times-Picayune For all of its faults (underdeveloped characters and an ending that flirts with the ridiculous) it manages to squeeze more movie into its 64 minutes than many do in 90 or more Rated: 3/4 May 13, 2011 Full Review Alexandra Cavallo Boston Phoenix Dreary apartment complex? Check. Post-apocalyptic undertones? Check. Wild-eyed, slavering undead with a taste for man meat? Check, check. But somehow it doesn't all come together. Matthew B Enjoyed this one a lot. If you've seen "The Night Eats The World" this will seem immediately familiar, as it's obvious this film was the main inspiration. The characters breaking through a wall to get to another apartment, the main protagonist originally coming to visit his ex girlfriend, the setting taking place in a crowded apartment building... all of these things "The Night Eats The World" replicated in its own original way. I'm guessing Rammbock was inspired itself by the Spanish film "REC", as the (once again) crowded apartment setting and the rabies-like virus definitely gives me some deja-vu. But enough about other films, how was this one? Siege of the Dead, also and more commonly known as "Rammbock: Berlin Undead" (which is strange because the zombies are not undead but rather infected LIVING people), is a tightly knit but intense zombie film that leaves just as soon as it arrives. Leave it to the Germans to efficiently pack an entire movie into only ONE HOUR! But still leave a lasting impression. The movie kicks off almost as soon as it starts, with the two main protagonists being barricaded in an apartment complex with a horde of zombies just on the other side of the door. The film adds a unique twist to the virus, that being if you're bitten but remain calm long enough for your body's immune system to fight off the infection, you will not turn into a zombie. It's explained by the government on a radio broadcast that this is because your brain releasing adrenaline is what activates the virus... so I guess anyone with severe anxiety like myself would perish within minutes of this pandemic. The infected are fittingly intimidating and you end up feeling quite attached to the heroes of this film despite it's short running time... makes you wonder how "filmmakers" these days screw that up so bad with double to even triple the runtime at their disposal. Not much else can be said without spoiling the plot so I'll end this review by saying if you're a fan of the 28 Days Later series, The Night Eats The World, the Spanish "REC" series OR the American remake "Quarantine", you'll definitely enjoy this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Jose Raul B Looking like a Class-B movie, it shows a short and excellent story about the classic terror subgenre of zombies, adding some little original elements. A must see for zombie lovers. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review Liam D While it short it's a very intense and entertaining Thriller in a crowded sub genre Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/30/21 Full Review Audience Member Claustrophobic, inventive, unpredictable. One of the very best low-budget zombie films. Extremely recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member If it's as low budget as I think it is, they did a fairly good job considering. I like the quick run-time at approximately an hour, bc it's your standard zombie flick, and they didn't add much to what we've already seen, so I'm happy it didn't overstay it's welcome. The acting was ok... the main character was pretty bad imo and decisions his character made just made him/his character looked even worse. It's not scary at all, but I don't think that's what they're going for. I wouldn't really recommend this, but as far as low budget movies go, you do a lot worse than this one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Zombie movie concentrates more on emotion than violence. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
