Audience Member i forgot.. Out Of England The three time Emmy nominee stand up performance of Ricky Gervais is brutal, raw and walks on hardcore humor that as always can be inedible for some people. Ricky mentions some delicate topics and makes it even worse with his input and anatomy of the human behavior on the controversial topics. He starts off fast and good and sails off its boat swiftly in the first half of his act after which it unfortunately drops for a topic (the whole intake on nursery rhymes and moral seeking stories weren't upto his standard; it could have been better) only to lift off for a grand finale that not only is hilarious but accounts in all of his topics. This is some of the best stand up I have seen for its content demands attention and glues in the whole act that is for more than an hour. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Some of it is just really not funny, but there are a few gems in here (the whole Humpty Dumpty bit is gold!) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Didn't enjoy it because he just told too many of his old jokes in this. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Gervais is a funny comedian, and he has some great material, but this stand-up special would have been better with the omission of some pointless gay jokes. I'm still a fan, but with some reservations. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Ricky Gervais is the creator, writer, director, star and producer of the original BBC British Office and Extras TV series. He's featured in his own HBO stand-up comedy special called Ricky Gervais: Out of England. I found him to be funny, even hilarious at times. Some of his jokes tend to go on too long when he should really move on to the next topic. I didn't laugh at everything he said. A lot of it was amusing though. I did laugh out loud several times. On stage Ricky Gervais presents himself in a self-effacing manner using a wide range of political, social and personal subjects in his routine. He comes across as being very sharp, intelligent and witty. It's entertaining to watch him crack jokes in front of a crowd. The HBO stand-up comedy special Ricky Gervais: Out of England will appeal most to people who appreciate Ricky Gervais's dry British sense of humour. Fans of the talented comedian will likely find it worth watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Ricky Gervais is a powerhouse of a man. For those who are unfamiliar,he is a touring stand-up comedian, the creator/writer/director/producer/lead actor of the UK (and original) version of the Office, and he occasionally appears in American movies (Ghost Town,Night at the Museum 1 and 2). I had never seen his stand-up before I recorded this special on HBO,but I already assumed I would like it. Gervais delivers in a 70+ minute special with all sorts of taboo subjects. It's very much like Sarah Silverman's Jesus is Magic special, but with no songs or distracting sketches. Gervais discusses a wide variety of subjects, from AIDS, to elephants swimming,to glory holes, to encores, to the Holocaust. Yep,he goes there. And it's funny. He also somehow ends up doing numerous animal imitations, all of which involve animals speaking perfect English. It's very hard to write a review of a stand-up special, because its tough to compare it to other specials. Stand-up is so unique, while comedies or action movies rarely change. All I can say is Gervais' special Out of England is worth the effort to see. But a word of advice-do not watch with your parents, kids or grand-parents. Very, very inappropriate humour here (see what I did there, with the 'u' because he's British and all!...sorry). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
