Mary Ann F I'll be honest and say that I quit this film with 45 minutes left to go. Up until that point it was decent, with good storytelling, good characterizations and great acting. But then it started getting extremely tedious and it completely lost my attention, which is very unusual for me, as I'll watch even a bad film until the end. But that's the paradox about Riphagen, as technically it's not *bad.* I'm giving it three stars, which is a neutral score, as possibly it's just a weary evening for me and I picked the wrong film for this kind of night. That said, I'm watching it on the heels of "Number 24," a Norwegian WWII film that's one of the best movies I've seen on that war, EVER. I was hoping, perhaps, for a similar rush from Riphagen, but it's not in the same league. If you're trying to choose, pick Number 24 instead, hands down Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Eric P SPOILER. When you promise to kill the vilain a dozen times but never do it when confronted, you deserve to die. Otherwise you’re just like a James Bond evil man who plays with his food. Pull the trigger and stop whining Jan. That made the movie good at first but unbearable and I couldn’t wait for it to end within the last 45 minutes. It started good…. I know it’s true to the story but it made for a bad ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review Han T Riphagen was an absolute sociopath and his portrayal here shows him as one of the best villains in recent movie history. It reminds a bit of watching movies about people like Pablo Escobar; it's far more insane than any writer could come up with, and the story is mostly real.. Amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/24 Full Review Luis M. D A very compelling historical drama based on real facts. There is a detail worth noticing that comes at the end. Who protected him after he fled the Netherlands? Isn't it the same government that protected other nazi war criminals like Adolph Eichmann? Just think about it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/29/23 Full Review david c 84%. Well done from from an evil standpoint. Monsters do walk the earth occasionally, see one here. The outcome is well known, and here you will see the designers of evil. Movie moves along at a reasonable pace, and gives insight to the greed and soulless creatures out there. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
