Kate Muir Times (UK) For fans of swordplay, Kyoto Inferno provides plenty of one-on-one standoffs, meaty-but-elegant mass slashings and even a whiff of courtly love. Rated: 3/5 Dec 1, 2014 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) It's entertaining in parts, but wildly overlong and narratively ill-disciplined. Rated: 2/5 Nov 29, 2014 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian An 80-minute B-picture stifled under an extra hour's worth of expensive production design. Rated: 2/5 Nov 28, 2014 Full Review Stefan Pape HeyUGuys A picture that thrives in its unique subverting of the typical action hero. Rated: 3/5 Dec 1, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews

Kyle E A solid sequel but it feels like a set up film Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Will G. F The vegetables in the ass didn't make it really joyful entry into Japanese History or culture or background noise. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/28/23 Full Review King S Gostei um dos melhores filmes de live action que já vi! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Late R So we're turning the silly factor up here, especially in the character design for the villains and the overall OTT-ness of them, but I'm assuming they're trying to stay true to the source material (I'm only vaguely familiar with it, so I don't know for sure). If you're okay with that, then ‘Kyoto Inferno' is as well-filmed as its predecessor, except it goes bigger. It still has great cinematography and some epic fight scenes which make up most of its entertainment value, but there's less heart this time around; it feels less grounded in reality and lacks emotion. Even though it's enjoyable in itself to see memorable characters return, there's no development for them whatsoever. In short, this is a big, visual action sequence and that's it. It's action-packed fun, no doubt, but it's missing that balance its predecessor had. Even so, as far as live-action adaptations go, this is still miles better than most attempts out there. NOTE: I'm reviewing this film as it is without considering the fact that, technically, it's part 1 of 2, the second part being 'The Legend Ends'. If you take put those two films together as one, then it feels much more rounded as a story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/22 Full Review Audience Member One of the better live actions version of a Anime/Manga . I like how they look very similar to their anime appearance . I am a huge Kenshin fan So I am all for these Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review dean c Continues on from an already epic live action anime adaption. Loved the 2nd film. Introduces a menace villain Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
