Audience Member Great short film by Akerman. It is so simple and short but has a great depth to it. The humming and laughter was an excellent, awe-inspiring choice which added so much emotion to the film and made it ten times more interesting to watch. Also, the end credits are unconventionally spoken like Truffaut's opening credits for Fahrenheit 451, but this ending had no words at all. This is the type of film that shows her great creativity and great concern for the individual, despite being her first film, it already contains a lot of what makes her films so singular and special. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Charming first film from Chantal Akerman. It's a short-film about loneliness, madness, and suicide--and actually funny. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Hoo, wondeful, Akerman's most intriguing work and a presursor to her works and especially her female-oriented ones Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member In this, the very first film from the immensely talented Chantal Akerman, we see glimpses of the artist who was to come. Akerman plays the main character, and we get to see her strange existence in her little apartment. Odd, fun, and interesting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member First movie by Chantal Akerman, starring herself as a strange girl, suffocated in her lonely life. The small place - the whole film is set in the kitchen - give us and idea of confinement and the strange behavior and sounds she does all the time give us an idea of her loneliness and difficulty to grow up.

Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
