Audience Member Savage Youth is a depressingly vapid look at life in middle america. Based on a true story, we find white people who so badly want to be black that when black characters finally emerge on screen they are almost immediately the bad guys. This movie tries to give an indie film gloss over redneck lifestyle, even attempting to make smoking meth and making out next to dead bodies romantic. Black people are pawns in the lives of whites and this movie is a perfect example. Kudos to the two black actors who probably hated the 2 months of shooting this bleak coming of race film. Extra points off for whoever wrote these raps. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Upsetting portrayal of a horrific crime very loosely based on a true story. The portray these monster killers as good looking young kids with good intentions and ambitions. When in all reality the real life characters look like the racist inbreds they really were. They make it out to be a white boy rapper trying to make it in the world with a supportive girlfriend who encourages his rap dreams. Then they kill the men in an attempt to rob a couple black drug dealers. When in real life the white guy who was the main character literally said in court he wants to be a vampire. Clearly a psycho. And in real life they killed these men for no reason other than them being black, well actually they would claim in court that one of the black men tried raping the girlfriend. As if that isnt the oldest claim that racist white men use to try to get away with murdering a black man. Then they continued to party and play video games while repeatedly using racial slurs and continuing to commit violent acts against the men while they were dead. Even having necrophilia sex on top of the dead men before attempting to dismember the young men. Luckily in real life the dumb bitch that is the main characters girlfriend called her dad to try to get him to help dismember the boys and the father called the cops.. But the movie doesnt show or mention any of this.. it ends right after the murder is committed. Ultimately this movie just showed the psychotic piece of shit and his brother and portrayed them in a good light leading up to the murder and showed the black men as drug dealers who get arrested for gun charges. Not at all true to the actual story. If you are going to claim it's a true story then actually make it a true fucking story. Show how psycho main character had several people including his girlfriend file restraining orders against him. Tell how he trapped his girlfriend in a room and branded her with a swastika and upside down cross then threatened to cut her babies guts out and use them as a noose to hang her with. Dont portray the guy as some white rapper just trying to make it. Upsetting to say the very least. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review marvin h This is an okay movie, not great one though. I'm suffers from way to much melodrama, but the acting is good, especially from the three leads; Grace Victoria Cox as Elena, Will Brittain as Jason and, last, but not least Tequan Richmond as Gabe. You can tell that Michael Curtis Johnson really cates about the characters and has a decent eye for cinematography and captivating visuals. It's just too bad that the film is bogged down with the overly dramatic moments that linger too long within the good enough plot. The plot does eventually get to where it needs to go and it's believable enough that the characters would end up there. The fact that the film is based on a true story adds some gravitas, but not enough. Overall, not a bad way to spend and hour and a half. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Stupidest movie and a total waste of time! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/19 Full Review Audience Member Good movie. Why was it good? The character development was good enough to incite emotion Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/13/19 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
