Alexandra Heller-Nicholas AWFJ.org School's Out packs an impressive amount of ideological and tonal punch into what at first appearance could be mistaken for pedestrian genre film fare. Jun 6, 2019 Full Review Anton Bitel Sight & Sound This is an unnerving parable of a world that will not acknowledge or understand the warning signs constantly before its very eyes. Think Take Shelter for a smart new generation that refuses to look away from approaching catastrophe. brad p The Kids Are Not Alright In Dreadful ‘School's Out' Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review laurent b Catchy, with a weird tensed atmosphere, but also disturbing...An absolute must-see ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member So many lengthy and unnecessary scenes. Was so happy when the film ender. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member The excellent soundtrack and terrific photography add to the captivating script and gripping direction. The theme of teacher-students relationships is very interesting and its pairing with thriller elements really effective. Marnier has a good grasp of the material choosing to reveal and hold back when necessary resulting in a perfectly paced movie. The solution might have been a tad underwhelming as often happens in such films yet the epilogue is a fitting closure for a thought-provoking movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I was expecting to see a generic high school drama-inspirational-teacher-saves-the-day movie but wow was i wrong. This is a fantastic look at teen angst, being isolated and an outcast in high school. Creepy imagery and tension fills the whole movie which at come times felt like it was a horror movie. The cast are fantastic and the direction was on point (most of the time). I was dissapointed with the 3rd act as it went against the creepy build up to pretty standard we got to save the kids moment. The last scene wasnt as effective as it could have been and could have been alluded to more in the relationship the teacher has with his class. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member I had completely forgotten to warn everybody about one of the worst movies of the last 2-3 years: L'heure de la sortie (School's Out, O professor Substituto). For some time the story seems interesting and causes some curiosity. But with the time passing, the story becomes duller and duller with a very obvious ending about 5 minutes before the movie really ends. If it would have actually ended after that ridiculous rescue, one would have simply thought that it was a lame, slow, senseless movie. But the idiotic script writer thought he should put a final point adding another completely absurd second ending which makes puts my rating of 2/10 down to MINUS 5!! It's utter bullshit and the scriptwriter should be hit on the head 104 times, thus letting him suffer as many minutes the people in the cinema had to suffer from this monster crap!! People were actually running pretty enraged out of the theater at the end!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
