06/26/2019 Like many movies from the 50's there is some over acting but i love the actors and the story line. See more 06/18/2013 Solid version of the Maugham tale with excellent work by Eleanor Parker, Francoise Rosay and in particular George Sanders who makes his character a fully fleshed out person in a limited amount of screen time. Not quite as good as the Naomi Watts/Edward Norton remake, done under the original title of The Painted Veil, but still a good entertainment.
