Audience Member Well now this movie might have been made in the 80's but this is one kick-ass Kung-Fu flick. Most of your modern Kung-Fu flicks consist of string action and over exaggerated moves. Shoalin Vs. Lama is a very good flick with plenty of fighting and a little less talking. This is what a Kung-Fu movie should be all about. Has the right speed, good fighting, and is over all really good. 10 out of 10 in my opinion Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A young kung fu expert is searching for a kung fu master; however, everyone he encounters as a possible teacher losses to him in a duel. One day, while interacting with a performing group in the market place, the wanderer meets a Shaolin monk. The Shaolin monk introduces the wanderer to his kung fu teacher. The kung fu teacher reluctantly takes the student on after numerous coaxing attempts. Just as the student starts hoaning in on his kung fu skills, a ruthless kung fu master comes along and kills the student’s teacher. The master will overtake the country side if the student does not stop him. “My luck deserted me the day I met you.” Tso Nam Lee, director of Mantis in the Monkey’s Shadow and Chinese Super Ninjas 2, delivers Shaolin versus Llama. The storyline for this series is amongst the best ever for the kung fu genre during this time period. The action choreography is amazing, the soundtrack is solid, and the settings are remarkable. Lee’s all time greatest picture is amongst the greatest martial arts pictures ever made, it is odd that Lee never made any other martial arts pictures worth mentioning. “My grand master has strange habits.” Shaolin versus Llama is amongst the greatest martial arts pictures ever created. The best villains in this genre are probably Ghost Face Killer or played by Lo Leih in the Venom or Gordon Liu films. You have to be a different kind of person to truly appreciate these kung fu masterpieces.
