Everything feels like a first take, the dullest moments are padded out to their maximum duration, and even the kills are markedly lacking in effects. Go to Full Review

Given that it significantly recycles footage from the debut film, it's a laughable excuse for a sequel, yet the inclusion of those scenes and injection of more absurdly could still make it better than its predecessor. Go to Full Review

See more DanTheMan 2 Dec 9 Like the original, a veil of Catholic guilt hangs over everything, with all the ways the word naughty is used dozens of times, often in hilarious and mischievous ways; however, it didn't incite quite the same level of ire as its predecessor, perhaps because people were used to killer Santas by 1987 or perhaps because nobody saw it. It ultimately took an internet age meme for this one to garner much attention, although to be fair, it is a very good meme. There are some inventive kills and nominal director Lee Harry brings a beautiful awkwardness to everything, but the highlight is undoubtedly the performance of Eric Freeman. Part of me is reluctant to throw him under the bus because the completely derranged intensity he brings to the table here is more akin to unwise direction or bad writing; either way, it's a treat every time he opens his mouth. Yes, this amounts to half a film, but it's a shot of adrenaline-induced hilarity taken to eyebrow-lifting levels. See more Jason H Nov 29 It isn't just atrocious; it's inept. See more Ash P @AshParth Nov 27 Hey, any of you remember that one line that became a meme that everyone knew and loved? Garbage day. Well, it came from this movie. I only heard of it but never knew much where it came from because I never saw this movie. Well, here we are since we are gonna take a look at every Silent Night, Deadly Night movie leading up to the second reboot and I will be honest with you, I do think this would be salvageable. The movie is about Billy Chapman's brother, Ricky, played by Eric Freeman, stuck in a mental hospital being interviewed by Dr. Henry Bloom, played by James L. Newman. Ricky shares his experience the night of his parents' murder by the guy in a Santa Claus outfit to when he was adopted by the Rosenberg's to when he starts having a normal life with this young woman named Jennifer, played by Elizabeth Kaiten. Of course, when something has happened like when his adopted father passed away to seeing Jennifer getting abused by an ex-boyfriend, Ricky starts loosing composure and commits a series of random murders, targeting people who are "naughty." Sounds like a simple story, right? Well, yes and no. One of the issues that this movie has is that the first thirty-five-forty minutes uses footage from the first movie as Ricky is telling it to Dr. Bloom. As someone who is not a big fan of recap episodes of TV shows and anime, that was kinda lazy, if you ask me. I mean, some folks would say that you could skip the first movie and just watch this one, yet it kinda defeats the purpose because there's a two in the title. It says Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2. So of course, you'd look up the first movie before this. Thankfully, the remainder of the movie does have Ricky talking about how he got adopted by the Rosenberg's, which is pretty short, to when he starts having a normal life with Jennifer at the age of fifteen, played by Darrel Guilbeau. Except Ricky just can't catch a break whenever those memories of his parents' murder, including his brother's death, triggers him to lose all composure and kill anyone he would label as "naughty." The acting is good. Though some of them are bad. Eric Freeman does go over-the-top and steals the show for not only the kills, but for his monologue during his interview with the doctor. Darrel Guilbeau also stole the show for his performance as Rickey when he was fifteen. The kills that they'd committed were good. A couple of kills were better such as when Ricky killed this gangster with an umbrella and when we got to Mother Superior. Yes, she is here and I don't know if the way she looked was intentional after she's suffered a stroke, according to Sister Mary. With that said, the final act of the movie was good, but there is some logic that I don't get. I won't spoil how the ending goes. It just ends on a decent note. So, that was what I call Ricky's side of the story since he took the mantle of his brother after being killed right in front of him. I mean, if the brothers have experienced trauma without help, they end up like the killer himself. Despite how lazy the first half is with reusing footage from the first movie, the second half is how it works better with Ricky. With that said, I'm gonna give Ricky's side of Silent Night, Deadly Night four and a half garbage day out of ten. 4.5/10. See more Liam D @Mediawatcher2003 Oct 24 Even though it has a memorable meme and one of the most OTT performances ever by Eric Freeman but this is a dull sequel that re used footage from Silent Night Deadly Night for half the film for padding See more Read all reviews
