Leslie Felperin Guardian Esterhazy and co have a few clever-ish tricks up their sleeves that invert viewer expectations. Rated: 3/5 Dec 8, 2021 Full Review Alexandra Heller-Nicholas AWFJ.org Slumber Party Massacre revels in its status as a teen horror film but admirably refuses to let that be a reason to dumb down either its gender politics or tame its more visceral, gut-churning moments. Dec 8, 2021 Full Review Paul Lê Tales from the Paulside All in all, this is not a by-the-numbers remake. It takes a remarkable and astute movie from nearly four decades ago and refits its story for all generations of slasher fans. Rated: 3/5 Jul 23, 2023 Full Review Jenn Adams Rue Morgue Magazine Written by Suzanne Keilly and directed by Danishka Esterhazy, the remake manages to outdo its predecessor with a hilarious, heartfelt, and terrifying modernization of the ways women now view each other. Rated: A+ Sep 10, 2022 Full Review Heather Wixson Daily Dead Keilly's script is sublimely subversive without being too heavy-handed with the story's messaging, and Esterhazy has done a fantastic job of bringing this genre classic into our current times. Rated: 4/5 Dec 20, 2021 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures Danishka Esterhazy's postmodern remake slashes clichés, inverts male gazes & refuses to let 'the first to die' die. Audience Member A fun camp camp slasher! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Martin F Horror remakes still have potential as proved by Slumber Party Massacre which not only respects the original but makes its own twist and turns it into a good horror movie. It's as stupid and fun as the original trilogy but way more exciting than any of the first three movies. There is a lot of winks to the original trilogy but the remake is still its own thing by giving a strong feminist twist to it. Slumber Party Massacre makes fun of as much as it respects the current feminist wave talking, tongue-in-cheek ,of toxic masculinity and putting guys into random revealing moments. Some kills there are nasty, thanks to the series having finally the capacity to offer descent special effects. Surprisingly, the movie is divided into three distinct parts each of them bringing their own twists while keeping the whole story coherent and easy to follow. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/18/23 Full Review London H Amazing movie a absolutely must see! Only thing I would've wanted to see more of is the ending being longer. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Greg T The first thing to stand out was the completely horrible acting. I'm a fan of horror, and expect the acting to be subpar, but every character's acting is soooo bad. That said, the movie itself could be decent. There's quite a few stretches with the plot (one at the end is just completely out of the blue in an unbelievable way). The real killer is easily guessed way before revealed. But some of the scenes have decent suspense. If you have time to kill, it's worth a watch but otherwise I wouldn't waste time Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/09/23 Full Review Brady B This movie is infuriating to witness. Thanks to the script, acting, and screenplay, you will be left asking yourself "why the f*** did I finish this movie?" You know those times when you're watching a movie and you think to yourself, "why wouldn't they just say ____?" or "why did that person do that?" Well, thanks to this product, you get to experience that for an hour straight. It is difficult to watch this without verbally expressing your frustration. Every character sucks. Not a single character has common sense. I'm beginning to think that critics were paid off to give the high ratings…I would rather watch a cat use a litter box. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/02/23 Full Review Dogon B SO GOOD! I loved it. If you like gory horror watch it. You quit be disappointed!
