Audience Member The movie begins and from that point on I was a bit confused. The movie is very dark and surreal at moments, a unique experience for sure. The leads in the film were largely unknwon to me, but I thought they did a superb job with what as I found no one to be paticularly bad nor paticularly amazing though. I found the cinematography and directors work with the camera to be unflawed and very unique, but the plot gets very unravelled at times and I found myself (on the first viewing anyways) to be a bit sidetracked with all the on screen action that was taking place. But, that's what makes the film special and unique is how the film intrigues you with it's surreal style and motives. It's creepy, dark, intriguing, innovative (once again, at times) and confusing. A worthy look, but may take a few more viewings than one to completely understand what's going on. Still, worth a look. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an impressive short film. I wish the director can get a chance to make a feature length film because he clearly has talent. The film is bizarre, disturbing, beautiful..it did remind me of David Lynch but that's not a bad thing! I guess any film that defies the typical narrative film is going to be compared to Lynch since he's the master of weird cinema. This one has a mysterious quality to it that made it intriguing and it features some great performances and camerawork. It's worth watching especially for viewers who like short films. I appreciate short films...they can say much in just a few minutes that some 2 hour films can't. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Pandy 3 This short film needs no explanations, each one may receive it and interpret it as he feels like! They say that its a story of a person who became the captive of surrealistic madness but who knows? Its like a dark mystery that partially unravels in front of your eyes, and before you realize it begun it ends making you want to see it again and try to figure it out more. Its twisted and surreal and that's how it catches your interest and attention. Personally the feelings I got while watching were melancholy, disturbance, fear, excitement, confusion, tension, pain, and madness but its all beautiful and "smoky" and the accompanied music fits perfectly in creating the essential atmosphere. It was introduced to me by a new friend (Ilya S.) and so this is the first short film I saw from Poland director and writer Grzegorz Cisiecki, who again I had never heard before. However the use of camera and light are really good in capturing all the emotions the character may have and its visually challenging. Definitely worth's a view and you can find it from Youtube as Short Film "Smoke" Enjoy ;) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/11 Full Review Audience Member The movie begins and from that point on I was a bit confused. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Is it okay to do not really understand that movie?? I think yes, because i cannot find a real story behind it. But it´s a cool short film, well filmed and it reminds me a bit on "insomnia" and "the imaginirium of doctor panassus". Just say; Well done! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It may show flashes of skill and potential, but Smoke is ultimately held back by it's own nonsensical plot (or lack thereof). While dreamlike cinema can be a positive, I feel that there is too much unrelated stuff going on in a too short a time period. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
