Elisabeth Vincentelli New York Times Ayr does not offer any tension-releasing catharsis, making his film efficiently disquieting in its own unassuming manner. Jan 25, 2019 Full Review Deborah Young The Hollywood Reporter Proves the ideal vehicle to explore a wide variety of issues related to gender battles in contemporary Indian society, even while following many of the genre tropes that make police dramas so universally beloved. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Jay Weissberg Variety With an intelligent, subtle script and camerawork so organically natural one doesn't immediately realize that each scene is shot in one take, the film draws on a subject much in the news and spins it into a multilayered yet low-key study... Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Dipankar Sarkar Vague Visages Despite being a well-intentioned art house film, Soni somehow fails to create an impressionistic effect and often feels cliched. But what’s commendable is the character treatment by the debutant director, Ayr. Sep 21, 2023 Full Review Saibal Chatterjee NDTV The slow-burning drama grabs you from scene one and does not release its grip for a minute. Unmissable. Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Katie Hogan VultureHound As a first feature film, Ayr has created an interesting to start to an on-going conversation, one that needs and should be extended outside one's own country and comfort zone. tony h Quite an amazing movie, really; Very watchable as it gradually, gently draws you in, gently nudging its message along until the final BIG breakthrough in the end that the dreadful rot so endemic in society has to stop now. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The very realistic approach in this movie gives it a first-hand-account touch to it.... Gives a ray of hope in more ways than one, be it social responsibility of every citizen, being a role model to society, standing up for what is righteous, and moreover, how to control one's emotions....a good movie with its watch... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow burn. Anyone who has interacted with the Delhi police can instantly identify with so much of the subtle subtexts the movie is rife with. A bit more tightening could be attempted, but it would take away from the slice of life feel. Definitely a crew to watch out for! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Las actuaciones del reparto son buenas y el tema presentado es interesante; sin embargo, no es muy entretenida o emocionante. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I had high hopes for this movie based on the reviews so I kept watching it... waiting for the magical moment where the pace would pick up. It didn't. This is one of those slow burner, dramas with a very relevant and important theme. However from an entertainment point of view the majority of the film chugged along at a snails pace. Editing was lacking - I was forced to sit through several scenes as we watched the main actress meander through unnecessary unimportant her daily activities. Well acted though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant. It shows the realistic version of state of cops in India. It is not easy to be Singham and beat up goons. In the real world Cops need to follow a lot of rules and there are plenty of hindrances and roadblocks for just doing their job right. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
