Audience Member Low budget, but great plot and acting for the day. Very fun and tense in a great 1960 way. The less said about the miniatures used the better, but very entertaining. The movie info. on this site contains a huge spoiler. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review martin a This is an outstanding film, a great cast, and fantastic story. A husband and wife, pilot and stewardess run a small plane on a budget flight carrying passengers. However, everything is done on the cheap. Also on board is a Police Officer with his arrested man. During the flight, a fire breaks out in the cockpit and the faulty fire extinguisher causes fumes that killed the co-pilot and knock out the other. The man who is handcuffed is released and he tried to help fly the plane which is badly damaged. Eventually, the plane crashes and all passengers get out into liferafts to a nearby island. When they get there they look for food and water but the criminal was on board with another criminal who knows him and wants him dead. Whilst looking around the Island they find no people except two bunkers, one filled with goats and the other with equipment which is lead-lined. They then realize that it is a nuclear testing site and the time is set. However, when they get back to the beach the other bad guy has taken one raft and damaged another. Just across from the Island is a tower which will send a signal to the plane before they set off the bomb, problem is how do they get there in time to stop the bomb going off. The best scenes are the plane crashing, discovering the bunkers, the shark scene, and the tower scene. Sadly the stewardess does not seem very bothered when her husband makes the sacrifice, that is a sad bit. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Subtle critic on the nuclear age, but fashioned into a tense drama in both of its two acts.
