Tasha Robinson The Verge 12/15/2016
For a mainstream supernatural-fantasy war film, Spectral is curiously devoted to rhapsodizing about science, and considering the moral implications of scientific discovery. Go to Full Review
Howard Gorman NME (New Musical Express) 06/10/2021
It's a cracking sci-fi military mystery that apes from various genres whilst yet never feels overly familiar. The ensemble cast works wonders and the special effects are in the same class as most big blockbuster flicks. Go to Full Review
Brian Costello Common Sense Media 10/12/2018
3/5
The battle scenes are frenzied with edge-of-your-seat excitement, and unlike so many other war-themed movies, no clear-cut direction pointing to just how this movie will end. Go to Full Review
Jodi Smith Pajiba 10/12/2018
Instead of going for huge stars, awkward and unneeded backstories, and bloat, Spectral manages to pack in just what a viewer needs to enjoy the plot and journey placed before them. Go to Full Review
Germain Lussier io9.com 03/09/2017
"The less you know, the better." It's a common phrase used in all walks of life, and it applies perfectly to Nic Mathieu's Spectral. Go to Full Review
Scott Weinberg Nerdist 12/14/2016
3.5/5
Spectral probably won't win many awards for originality, but if you're down for a "ghosts vs. soldiers" action flick that doesn't take itself all that seriously [and] moves at a nice pace... then Spectral will probably fit the bill. Go to Full Review

Daniel R Dec 1 The idea is stolen from the (great) movie: Final fantasy. It lacks thrill, tension. The plot is the ususal, predictable and stupid hollywood story we saw a thousand times. See more David Z Jul 29 Meh. Imagine a militarized version of Ghostbusters --- no humor or wit, but a lot more shooting. See more Chris P Jul 3 An odd but interesting fusion of action/war, sci-fi and horror. I liked the concept more than the execution but still enjoyed the film. See more Viktor S Jun 16 The movie is plain dumb. What are these guys are doing in this shittistan? Why is the first victim so pressed to advance? Is his dinner getting cold? Oh, yeah, you can turn every camera into a spotlight, and I guess they can turn every spotlight into a camera too. It takes 15 minutes and 2 screwdriver to develop and manufactured as stockpile of weapons. All the suffering people just automatically turned into blood lusty maniacs. I can go on and on and on... See more Paul S Jun 13 This movie is if Ghostbusters was a war movie, and it was awesome! The story was compelling, the visuals were great, and the Spectrals were absolutely terrifying. I definitely recommend it for sci-fi and action fans! See more Read all reviews
