Tasha Robinson The Verge For a mainstream supernatural-fantasy war film, Spectral is curiously devoted to rhapsodizing about science, and considering the moral implications of scientific discovery. Dec 15, 2016 Full Review Howard Gorman NME (New Musical Express) It's a cracking sci-fi military mystery that apes from various genres whilst yet never feels overly familiar. The ensemble cast works wonders and the special effects are in the same class as most big blockbuster flicks. Jun 10, 2021 Full Review Brian Costello Common Sense Media The battle scenes are frenzied with edge-of-your-seat excitement, and unlike so many other war-themed movies, no clear-cut direction pointing to just how this movie will end. Rated: 3/5 Oct 12, 2018 Full Review Jodi Smith Pajiba Instead of going for huge stars, awkward and unneeded backstories, and bloat, Spectral manages to pack in just what a viewer needs to enjoy the plot and journey placed before them. Oct 12, 2018 Full Review Germain Lussier io9.com "The less you know, the better." It's a common phrase used in all walks of life, and it applies perfectly to Nic Mathieu's Spectral. Mar 9, 2017 Full Review Scott Weinberg Nerdist Spectral probably won't win many awards for originality, but if you're down for a "ghosts vs. soldiers" action flick that doesn't take itself all that seriously [and] moves at a nice pace... then Spectral will probably fit the bill. Korra N Surprising smart, intense, well-acted & visually stunning, SPECTRAL is one of Netflix's strongest originals to date. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review michael k Why? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Tijs v It is a very average movie with a high budget. The visuals are great and the CGI and costumes both look very good. However the dialogue and story both just do not cut it for me and are not very good. The characters are also not fleshed out at all and just appear and then disappear from the story. Not really worth watching to be honest. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/25 Full Review W m I am baffled by the comments stating this is a suspense movie on the edge of your seat stuff It takes so long to get anywhere, when it should have done so very early on. Quite mundane really. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/25 Full Review Mother E One of the first movies I wished an AI had written instead of a human. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Simon P I had high hopes for the movies, but sadly it fell short of that. When it got in to the action it was the typical over the top fire fights with bad acting from the beefed up delta force actors, the idea of this movie is good but it defiantly could have been told better. found it hard to finish, but a good watch to have in the background.
