Stellina, as played by the lovely Christina Mauro,is a soft-spoken librarian with a penchant for coconut cream by, and an aversion to driving. The film's earliest scenes establish that she is a solitary figure, and yet she is endearingly proper, and sweetly social. As she bicycles from job to errands to home, we see that her those with whom she frequently interacts, a waitress, a convenience store cashier, are smitten with her and open to friendship. After she is shot at the convenience store, mistaken by the robber as an uncooperative clerk, she spends a month recovering in the hospital, and it is here, as her doctor; her room-mate, a charming girl with a cancer diagnosis; a young man paralyzed from a fall while trying to save a child from a fire, and Jack, the young man's mentor; are drawn to her graceful empathy.
What follows are a series of healing miracles that are presented simply and softly in scenes that follow Stellina's conversation with the afflicted. She doesn't preach, promise, or intone; she simply touches...an encoraging pat, a brush of an errant strand of hair, speech that edifies.
Her growing friendship with the store owner, and her halting, hopeful romance with Jack are rendered incandescent by Mauro, and we realize that this person, this young woman, shooting incident or not, was always one of those special people who lighten our loads and stiffen our spines.
We do find out in a late scene with
Jack why Stellina had chosen to be alone, and why she preffered
her bicycle to a car. There will be those who because of this one revelation alone will dislike the movie's ending, but I prefer to think of it as the moment she received her true healing.

71% is NOT accurate!!!!! This is a heartwarming, inspirational film!! I want this for my movie collection. I love the script, and the actors. There are other sites like Amazon.com that give excellent review on this movie. This is a movie you just cannot pass up. To me, Stellina, was the angel in this movie.

A truly stupid movie. Plays like an after-school special. The only "star" is they guy who was in Office Space, who got in the accident. And he was miscast. Dopey script and dialogue. Poor acting. But the worst was the maudlin guitar sound track. Meant to pull at your heartstrings, but was just annoying. The worst movie I've seen on Netflix, and Netflix is the prime repository of bad movies.

Watch this engaging film with authentic characters and emotive acting. Christina Mauro is particularly convincing and natural in the role of Stellina. Hope and tragedy intermingle in this complex story.
