angie s Christie Burke lived the role and really brought it to life, but there were too many missed opportunities in the plot to make me love it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Alley C DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Please. If I can stop ONE person from going through this horrendously painful joke of a movie wishing they didn't just lose an hour and a half of their life, then I will be happy. I watched 3 top YouTube horror movie reviewers talk about the movie and actually give it credit for what it did well?! Really?! Maybe it's an American/Canadian culture thing where y'all are just used to this kind of dialogue and acting but the characters were completely unrelatable. I should have known it was going to be bad when the "husband/wife who don't communicate" dynamic was setup from the beginning. Again, leaves you unable to relate to the characters because in real life, WHO communicates like that?! Things could have easily been fixed with basic communication, but then there wouldn't be a plot line would there? The acting was pretty bad, D grade budget feels. Mary/Burke did her best but again, I couldn't get past the cringe enough to get into the story which was poorly written really. It was so predictable it became a game to us to predict each event. My partner and I couldn't even bare to watch it in one sitting. We watched the second half the following morning while eating breakfast laughing at it's failed attempts at being spoopy. Yes, really. The ending. Oh, the ending. We scoffed at it and were pleased it was finally over. Who are these "top critics" on this site who hyped it up so much? Gave us false hope for this movie. Disappointed. And won't trust the reviews that aren't written by normal people from now on. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/01/21 Full Review Audience Member Great premise, great execution. Few good spooks but absolute trash ending Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member You can't really ask more of a horror movie. It was paranormal, it was scary, it was psychological, it was thrilling, it was well directed, acted and paced. The timing was particularly brilliant. It was also disturbing and so true, at least in my opinion. Enjoy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review guy p Story that's been told 100 times but nothing original is added. The whole movie is just so slow and predictable and at one point is inundated by random mythology. Simple communication would've resolved the whole plot instead of dragging it out for an hour and a half. Acting falls very flat, and the ending is so awful it makes you regret watching the movie at all. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie came recommend by shudder and favorable reviews on Rotten Tomatoes but wow was it bad. The director portrayed a young family going through a very unique situation but intelligent seemingly sensitive people in a loving relationship so why when things start getting really crazy does the mother not communicate or share video and audio proof with her husband why does he wire the whole house with cameras and never use it, she never seems to resist or acknowledge her own downgrading condition when protecting her baby seems to be her main motivation, she doesn’t even sleep with the baby in her room at night and even when proof of how incredibly disturbed she is discovered nothing official is done. This movie became so infuriating I had to fast forward skim through the final act, I get what the movie makers were going for with the psychological aspect but don’t present certain control aspects to a story then completely disregard them. Nick Allen RogerEbert.com An inspired-enough take on a woman's horror, where the fear of losing her other baby becomes a terror itself, as expressed through an excellent performance. Rated: 3/4 Feb 9, 2018 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Works most effectively in its subtler, more enigmatic moments than when it indulges in familiar horror film conventions. Nevertheless, it does offer a consistent level of tension, a few decent scares and a terrific lead turn by Christie Burke. Feb 8, 2018 Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Christensen and co-writer Colin Minihan mostly repeat old beats from suburban supernatural horror films like "Poltergeist" and "Paranormal Activity," but strong actors and lean, unfussy storytelling ought to be more than enough to please genre buffs. Feb 8, 2018 Full Review Dax Ebaben Bloody Disgusting Artfully crafted, dark, and downright freaky. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 27, 2021 Full Review Andrew Gaudion THN Still/Born ends up revelling far too much in cliché to truly standout as a worthwhile horror concerning motherhood and parenthood. Rated: 2/5 Aug 30, 2020 Full Review Matt Donato Flickering Myth Still/Born may not cleverly shake themes about like Prevenge - morphing motherhood fears into something unexpected - but that doesn't weaken messages.
