The whole movie is just very dumb in the way its structured, the dialogue, and the way the stuff was discovered. It is bad but in a funny way of being able to watch it and laugh at how dumb the movie is respectfully. Still makes for funny experience I think it would be better with a group of family members just making fun of how bad the movie is.

The Stuff is a horror/comedy that has special effects so bad they are good. The movie has lots of goofy scenes from the start where a guy sees a white foamy substance bubbling out of the ground, and he does what we would all do, he starts eating it. "It tastes Good!". Next thing you know Jed's a millionaire and the Stuff is being eaten and marketed everywhere. Problem is the stuffs takes control of people and leaves them empty husks. In the end the bad guys are forced to eat the stuff, and our hero asks them. "Are you eating the stuff, or is the stuff eating you?"

Basic Summary
The story opens with several workers in Georgia discovering a white cream but this cream was substance bubbling out of the ground. They say it would to be addictive and sweet, the substance, marketed as "The Stuff", is sold to the general public in containers like ice cream. But despite that this white cream has zero calories The Stuff becomes a nationwide hit. Everything was going smoothly until one night a young boy named Jason discovers The Stuff is seemingly alive but despite his efforts to convince his family, they dismiss him, continuing to consume it and nothing else, then later he is arrested by the sheriff at a supermarket for vandalizing The Stuff’s displays. The Stuff continues to grow despite people becoming over obsessed with it, that’s when FBI agent David "Mo" Rutherford, is hired by the leaders of the suffering ice cream industry to find out exactly what The Stuff is and eradicate it so this won’t harm people. Rutherford bands together with a junk food mogul named Charles W. aka "Chocolate Chip Charlie" Hobbs, who had lost control of his company and now living in poverty. Meanwhile at the town's post office, they both find the owner—a regular consumer of The Stuff—dead. Until they both find out about the item's secret: The Stuff is actually a living, parasitic, extraterrestrial organism that can gradually takes over the brain and mutates those who eat it into zombie-like creatures, which it then uses to make more of itself before bursting out of their bodies and leaving empty husks behind. The Stuff's weakness is that it is susceptible to fire, and Mo uses this to escape several traps set by The Stuff and zombies.
Then Rutherford eventually saves Jason and a pair with his lover Nicole, an advertising executive. The trio infiltrates the distribution plant, a organized corporate effort to spread The Stuff to eliminate the world’s hunger, and manages to destroy the lake where The Stuff is being extracted with explosives. Meanwhile the United States Army Col. Malcolm Grommet Spears, a retired solider to team up with the trio and leads with a militia in battling the zombies and transmitting a civil defense message to break their addiction to The Stuff by destroying it with fire. However as they were attempting to broadcast their warning to the people, The Stuff burst out a zombified of Charlie’s throat, cornering that Nicole and Jason were in the recording booth. Until Rutherford electrocutes The Stuff while it burns, and then they make their national broadcast. The Stuff's popularity quickly soon plummets as the public rallies to destroy all supplies. With the crisis seemingly averted, Rutherford, Nicole, Jason, and Col. Spears are hailed as national heroes. But something tells that The Stuff will soon come for revenge.

This was creepy and gooey if you ask me. Like selling alien ice cream to humans, that’s just disgusting and wrong. But in all of this film it was still pretty good Sci-Fi and Horror film to make.

I just want to know why on earth someone would just lick something from off the ground…first and foremost, what if you died? Crazy. Anyway, this was a very fun and entertaining film, the 80s were filled with silly horror films and this is another one to add to the books. The Stuff is a film about a detective who’s hired to investigate a new item (the stuff) that is gaining popularity very fast and is then introduced to the possessive side effects that it causes. The item has a whole song, big commercials, and families buying multiple liters at a time. At first, I found it quite foolish because who in their right mind would purchase something just by naming the stuff and not knowing all the ingredients that are used to create it? But then I started thinking about present-day society and how we buy items just because an influencer says it’ll make you look younger or make you lose weight in 3 days and decided I can’t judge. I find this movie to be a funky horror film because of its mediocre special effects (though some parts really surprised me and were done very well). I enjoyed it though it made me laugh and want to research more about what they used for the stuffs ingredients since they were actively eating it. The acting was pretty good, not the worst but not overly great either. I thought it was a pretty cohesive storyline, didn’t drift too far off from the plot. I think Larry Cohen did an amazing job and it was a very enjoyable watch. The main characters were very fun and I enjoyed learning about their individual perspective on how the stuff affected them. Though the kid was really funny and sassy. But yeah overall a good movie definitely would watch it again for nostalgia and recommend others to watch too.

Pretty good stuff, it must of been fun to be a crappy horror writer or actor in the 80s cause what the hell is going on here?
Paul Sorvino shows up very late with an insane performance.

A former FBI agent turned industrial saboteur (Moriarty) is hired by several companies to investigate a new product taking over the shelves, the simply titled, "The Stuff."
At first I had wished I'd seen this when it was released. Then I released I was probably too young then to acknowledge this as the satire it is. I would've thought it was a failed horror film. I'm glad my first viewing I was able to perceive the skill Cohen has in creating this delicious treat.
I found it hilarious. Although Morris is a comedian, however, he was woefully miscast in this. Moriarty is spot on.
Cameos by Brooke Adams, Laurene Landon, Tammy Grimes, Abe Vigoda, Clara Peller, Jason Evers, and a very young Mira Sorvino, who had come to visit her father on set one day.
