Steve D I was embarrassed for all involved, Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The film and singing voices of Gaynor and Farrell are tolerable but not worthy of praise. It is engaging and the cinematography and special effects are impressive from the time. The scene with the song, "Turn on the Heat," is very risque for the time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A movie with some wit and some social commentary. Even back then, New York was divided into "The 4 Million" and "The 400". Worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The best musical movie ever made! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member The acting isn't quite Oscar-worthy, but overall this is a great show, with its quirky charms, fun music, lovely cinematography, and aged sense of humor. If a production of this show were ever staged, I'd give anything to see it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Delightful early talkie was a huge hit in 1929 and still holds up remarkably well. Songs include "If I Had a Talking Picture of You," "I'm a Dreamer," and the bizarre production number "Turn Up the Heat." Gaynor and Farrell are charming.
