Taso V Loved the movie. Very entertaining.. something you don't see these days. Remember this was made when Vietnam was at its height and the unpopularity of aggression was in ascendency. Perhaps its a good time for the message to be reconsidered. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Tensions grow between an army base and the nearby local town. Story centers around a few lifers in the army who are now in the US. Comedy was made while the US was heavily involved in Vietnam yet no one at the army base seems to have any awareness of the goings on there. Likely seemed a bit dated even at the time of its release. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Irreverent film has army base clashing with local community leaders and law enforcement. Not for all tastes (especially Tony Curtis' performance) judging from film 'tanking' at the box office. Film's optics feel more like 1960 than 1970; hard to believe that this was released at the same time as MASH. Was loosely remade as TANK in the 80s. I also assumed suave Tony Curtis was the star. But no, Brian Keith was the main character in what was a surprisingly intelligent script filled with great dialogue. Tony Curtis played against type as a reckless neer-do-well who is at the center of the film's climax. The movie was full of recognizable character actors from the 60's, all doing what they did best. Overall, a delightful surprise. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
