Perché Striano reputa necessaria questa nota? Per avvertire gli etichettatori d'opere d'ingegno che nella stesura del suo lavoro si è sentito libero nello spirito e nei contenuti. Altra nota inserita, che mi par interessante citare, è quella del Manzoni -"Lo scrittore deve profittare della storia, senza mettersi a farle concorrenza" (Lettera al Fauriel ), a detta di alcuni (due per la verità) amici esperti, che il libro lo hanno letto e studiato, Striano è riuscito nell'intento di parlar di storia senza creare attrito. Ed il film? Il film ci presenta, in modo comprensibile e sperimentale, una Donna \il Volere o sono/ e le vicende di quello che è diventato il "Suo" popolo \il Voler divenire o sarò/. Una grande donna. Grande nella testa, più che nel corpo. Testa e corpo. Una testa nata per pensare su di un corpo nato per agire e per amare. Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca è il nome di questa donna. Nella vita di Eleonora, entra un uomo, che provo ad inquadrare così -

Eleonora ha fatto di tutto per mantenere vivo il suo matrimonio, e cosa ha ricevuto? Violenze fisiche, morali, aborti obbligati, la morte prematura del figlioletto Francesco, tradimenti e... Questo periodo buio della sua vita le fornisce, nonostante tutto, linfa vitale per donarsi ai Napoletani. Riesce, in tal senso, a dare equilibrio espressivo e d'azione, al numeroso gruppo di teste pensanti che frequenta. Ciaia, Cirillo, Cuoco, De Deo, Fasulo, Lomonaco, Pagano, Serra, Russo, sono solo alcuni dei teorici della Repubblica Napoletana. Allo stesso modo, anche la nostra regista riesce a dare armonia d'azione ai vari de Medeiros, Sparno, Villa, Di Florio, Zinna, Manchisi, Ragni, Moscato, Esposito. Ma non è tutto. Non è tutto perché bisogna dare il giusto merito al lavoro dello sceneggiatore Giuseppe Rocca. E' merito suo se, con sapienza, ha saputo dare alla variegata etnia linguistica il giusto intreccio; liberandoci da un ansioso approccio interpretativo. Ma non è tutto. Non è tutto perché se è stato possibile percepire "intus et in cute" "dentro e sotto la pelle", l'iniziale idea repubblicana, il fermento delle classi sociali, il ruolo dei vari protagonisti, il risvolto umano finale, lo dobbiamo al meraviglioso connubio di altri tre componenti il cast - Ciancio/Sepe/Franchini, ovvero costumi\musica\montaggio. Un film che consiglio di vedere; educa al pensiero, ai valori, al sano agire. Abbiamo il dovere di preservare queste memorie, non possiamo lasciar cadere nel dimenticatoio le ultime parole pronunciate dalla Pimental - "Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit", tradotte stanno a letteralmente significare "Forse un giorno la memoria di questi avvenimenti ci sarà gradita". (Virgilio/Eneide, I, 203). Enea, con queste parole suole incoraggiare i compagni nei momenti avversi dell'umana esistenza. Questo è il Cinema per tutte le stagioni.
