W. W. W a very foolish story, bad taste. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Joseph Cotten is a bank employee who figures out a way to steal a bunch of money from his band and researches which counties don't have extradition agreements with the US that he can flee to with his wife. After stealing the money just about everything goes wrong on his way to hide out in Brazil. It's a tight little story and Cotton is good as always, as is Teresa Wright as his wife, who doesn't know what Cotton did, but the film is directed without any sort of style or suspense and feels kind of like a bland episode of "Dragnet." Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Ugh! TCM hyped this as a fine example of noir-ish suspense, but it's just a shaggy dog story about a bank manager who almost gets caught (about a thousand times) in the process of robbing his own bank and making his getaway. Problem is, you know he won't get caught anytime before the closing minutes because otherwise, that'd be the end of the movie. Cotton and Wright do their best with terrible roles as, respectively, the nervous banker and his devoted wife. Their characters are boring and you want something awful to happen to them, but sadly it never does. If you're jonesing for Cotton and Wright, watch Shadow of a Doubt for the umpteenth time before you resort to this snoozer. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member taunt tight thriller thats not quite noir but kept me at the edge of my seat as this hecktic scramble unfolds.
