Audience Member The acting and atmosphere wins you over in the first half yet the second half becomes routine and familiar with an okay ending. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member A good twist to a horror flick. A young woman takes a job at an abandoned building at night. She finds a corridor that was not on the blueprints and when she enters weird things happen. The end is really different. A lot of symbolism with the dark and the light. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review jon h Meh once I heard him ask "how did you know your way back?" I pretty much knew how this film was going to end. It's become a fairly generic ending to this kind of film so that was disappointing. I think sometimes people fall into the trap on here of either loving a movie or hating it, in this case for me it was somewhere in the middle. Decent performances and up until the last half an hour I was pretty invested in it but ultimately it isn't a film I would recommend unless you're really struggling to find something to watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Honestly thought i was going to watch this when i woke up in the middle of the night to go back to sleep. It was a good movie. Not totally factual but still pretty damned close. Better than The Dirt. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Fergus Stapleton. Quite good overall. Great setting well used, Good performances. Good atmosphere. Creepy story which unravels a bit in last 10 minutes. Twist at end which makes you re think things. Didn't like it at first but kind of changed my mind later. Overall worth a look though the ending wii be divisive. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting idea, very bad movie with good actors. SPOILER ALERT: Interesting idea: the last dream of a lifetime sick child Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer Despite its formulaic structure, The Abandoned has a lot going for it. It eschews cheap scares, bloodletting, and gore. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 15, 2016 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter The film is effective for long stretches, mainly due to Rockaway's superb use of his principal setting. Jan 8, 2016 Full Review Brian Tallerico RogerEbert.com Just when you think this IFC Midnight flick will slide into an effective genre track, it flies off the rails in spectacular fashion, getting more unbearable and ridiculous all the way up to its closing minutes. Rated: 1/4 Jan 8, 2016 Full Review Andrew Stover Film Threat The Abandoned doesn’t quite justify its last-minute reveals. Yet, the film has a wonderfully eerie vibe and setting going for it, making this an effective atmospheric horror venture. Rated: 7/10 Aug 26, 2022 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat While the ending is weak, two-thirds of the film works so wonderfully it is still worth watching. Rated: 8.5/10 Sep 30, 2021 Full Review Cheryl Eddy io9.com The most annoying thing in horror has got to be when the protagonist is so utterly dumb that he or she makes decisions that everyone in the audience knows are a bad idea. Case in point: The Abandoned. Mar 13, 2017 Full Review Read all reviews
