Phil Hoad Guardian Recreating the lamplight poster shot from The Exorcist, Hildalgo doesn’t exactly disguise who he is in thrall to – though his film is to William Friedkin’s classic what hair metal was to Led Zeppelin. Rated: 3/5 Mar 23, 2022 Full Review Justine Smith RogerEbert.com Even when it missteps on occasion, The Exorcism of God is always committed, and often surprising. Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 11, 2022 Full Review Lena Wilson New York Times Hidalgo... must think quite highly of his own directorial chops to create such misogynistic nonsense in the first place. Mar 10, 2022 Full Review Dolores Quintana Dolores Quintana I will watch almost any film about exorcism, but I normally find myself let down most of those films. THE EXORCISM OF GOD did not let me down. Dec 28, 2022 Full Review Milagros Amondaray La Nación (Argentina) Middle-of-the road exorcism with abundant special effects, utilizing sound to cover up the lack of ideas to generate dread, and a frantic chase that belongs more to zombie cinema. May 18, 2022 Full Review Joel Copling Spectrum Culture Does The Exorcism of God work? Thats between the viewer and his Lord, but its definitely, well, something. Lauren The opener was like soft porn, and it wasn't scary a bit. I has to hold in laughter the whole time. Cheesy B rate film, not even worth renting once it's available on streaming platforms 👎👎 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/27/22 Full Review Bruce Gutterman As far as exorcism movies go, this was one of the better one's! It wasn't that much of a run of the mill exorcism movies in that it added a few twists and turns to it! It was also well made, directed and well acted, thus making it a higher quality horror movie! It had some genuine scares and a very eerie tone to it! It took a few things from "The Exorcist," but only a few of them so as not to copy the classic! And the few that it took were wise choices since a reminder of that movie helped to make this movie a bit scarier and horrifying! I am getting tired of possession movies, just like I am of super hero movies! But that is not too say that if one comes along in either category that doesn't make it repetitive likes it's predecessor's, it has a far better chance of being successful and not dull and boring because we have seen the same thing so many times! Such was the case with "The Exorcism Of God." I just to have to comment on some of the user reviews! I have been a fan of horror movies since the age of 5 and now I am 74 years old, so I have seen more than most people. Because of that it takes a lot for a horror movie to not just satisfy me but give me some scares and the creeps now and then. This movie provided me with that! I don't see how a father would take a 10 year old to see such a movie to begin with, but then to say that his child wasn't the least bit scared is either a lie, or he didn't even take his child to see the movie. Perhaps he didn't like it, an opinion that he is entitled to, and figured that he would make his review even more negative by throwing in the alleged comment by his child! Anyhow, it is nice to know that a movie whose genre has been filled with so many like movies, can create one that is just different enough to make it entertaining! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/22 Full Review Joshua T Despite its engaging atmosphere, storyline, and special effects, the movie feels surprisingly stale and mundane for a horror film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Not the best exorcism film but not the worst either. The special effects are sometimes bad and the possessed women who become zombies or contemporary dancers make the whole thing a bit ridiculous. However the story is rather original with a priest in a state of sin and an ending which is even more original and somewhat unexpected. It's a shame, the idea wasn't bad but the execution was disappointing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/16/24 Full Review Nicholas D Actually a pretty decent exorcist movie with an interesting plot. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review babarizam D I think the film took many ideas from the original movie and used in a good way. Acting is good. story could have been better but its not at all bad. Only reason this movie remained hidden and underdog is due to lack of marketing budget.
