Catherine Bray Guardian You can’t imagine it becoming one of those perennial Christmas films that kids clamour to rewatch time and again, but there’s no need to be embarrassed to sit your little angels down in front of this one to learn about the value of being a nice person. Rated: 3/5 Nov 19, 2024 Full Review Ethan Padgett Film Threat The Magic Reindeer: Saving Santa’s Sleigh is a solid family film to watch with the entire family during the Christmas season. kate h Took my two sons for their first cinema experience. Was a bit disappointed really. The four year old found it very loud ( which it was) it had a lot of heavy, dark scenes back to back. The two year old wasn’t worried but also not enthralled. Some threatening scenes when we thought the reindeer might be attacked on multiple occasions. Scenes of reindeer being trapped which upset my son. All a bit dark and not very upbeat. Lacked the kind of glittery, happy Christmas spirit I was hoping. Thought there would be songs and would feel Christmassy after but instead felt for an older child. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review The Rogue R The Magic Reindeer: Saving Santa's Sleigh 🦌 🎁 🎄 This movie was a delightful surprise for my first Christmas movie of the year. I went to see this in the cinema with my 7 and 3 years old. I was not expecting much, as I had not heard about the film prior to watching it and I have not seen the previous two installments of the Nico reindeer franchise.  This was one of the best children animation adventure films I have seen in a long time. The journey and lessons Nico the reindeer goes on, are deeper than I could have expected, especially from a movie named The Magic Reindeer: Saving Santa's Sleigh The animation is bright and magical. The voice acting is solid, with great performances from Nico (Matthew Whelan) and Stella (Emma Jenkins). The story is full of interesting characters with a lot of depth, which adds to the intensity of the plot. Some elements of this film really feel similar to the Lion King, with the younger generation trying to get along, but the bitter rivalry of the parents causing a lot of division. The joint directors of The Magic Reindeer: Saving Santa's Sleigh, Kari Juusonem and Jorge Lerdam have done a brilliant job, at not just telling a great Christmas story, but a Christmas story with heart, life lessons and excitement. This film reminds me of some of the 80s and 90s animation films from my past, where films were not scared to push boundaries, when teaching important life lessons.   Overall, I would highly recommend this film to parents looking for a good Christmas film in the cinema. There were a few scary moments, with some bad reindeers and wolverines that I had to reassure my 3 year old. But overall it was ok and everything ended happily in the end. Myself and my children thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas film and would give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/02/24 Full Review Karen H Sorry but lots of bored children in the cinema watching this movie - reindeer characters not very likeable, just about watchable to the end … Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review James S Great movie for the kids. Worth a watch. Not too long but charming and entertaining. Kids loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Read all reviews
