BRizz 2 The Marine 5: Battleground, starring Mike “The Miz” Mizanin as Jake Carter, continues the WWE action saga—but honestly, this one missed the mark for me. In all fairness, it wasn’t horrible, but it definitely wasn’t good. I wouldn’t recommend it or give it a thumbs up. It just felt weird seeing Jake Carter, a former Marine, now working as a paramedic—and yet he’s getting beat down left and right. After watching him hold his own in stronger entries in the franchise, this felt like a step backward. It didn’t feel like he had the same Marine grit or edge. That said, I did like Trinity Fatu (aka Naomi in WWE), who played Murphy. She actually did a great job—not just in the fight scenes, but her acting was solid too. I was really impressed. And I’ll give credit to Bo Dallas (credited here as Taylor Rotunda), who’s also known in WWE as Uncle Howdy—he was phenomenal. His performance stood out more than I expected, and he gave his character Alonso the intensity and presence it needed. Heath Slater (playing Cash) was pretty terrible, unfortunately. His performance just didn’t land. And as for Maryse Mizanin (Mike’s real-life wife), who played Ana, she didn’t have much of an impact at all. She was forgettable in the role, and I honestly don’t remember anything major she contributed. The whole movie takes place in one location—a parking deck—which would’ve been fine if the story had done something interesting with it. But it didn’t. The plot felt safe, stale, and all over the place without ever really going anywhere. It lacked tension and direction. It’s not the worst movie ever, but it’s not one I’d watch again or suggest to anyone. If I had to rate it, I’d give it a 2.5 out of 5, and that’s being generous, mainly because of Trinity Fatu and Bo Dallas’s performances. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Stephen C Failed action movie sequel in 1 hour and 32 minutes!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/29/25 Full Review Audience Member I would say the marine 5is better than the last two Marine movies but that really isn’t saying much. The only advantages this one’s a little bit more realistic without him shoot in about 100 different guys. There’s still plenty of action, fight scenes, and the movie moves briskly along but it’s pretty much what you would expect. Some bad acting, limited sets, and cheesy dialogue. Still it’s a fun movie the past time if you like the marine series Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/11/20 Full Review Audience Member The Movie Was Just Terrible , Just Awful👎🤬😠 Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This was certainly the most believable (if any of the Marine franchise can actually say that) since The Marine 2. The Miz is getting better with every movie he does and The Marine 5: Battleground is definitely a fun after bar type of B-movie. I hear a sixth one is coming at the end of the year. Good! Keep 'em coming, Miz. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
