One of my favorite movies of all times. Probably the one movie I have seen the most times. Incredible true story. There are a few newer movies about the same story but this is still my favorite.

Very interesting. This is a movie everyone should see. It's sad of all the suffering the children had to endure and no one believing them.

A gently paced telling of a wondrous event that evokes emotion through the genuine performances of its three young central characters. As with most stories of faith that are handled with care, this particular film is a lovely experience, not tarnished too much by Hollywood's treatment.

Se vogliamo "impossessarci" dei fatti di Fatima, dobbiamo per forza di cose partire da lontano. Ci trasferiamo con la nostra linea del tempo, nel lontano 1917.
Portogallo, 1917. Periodo del dopoguerra, la crisi economica fa sentire il suo peso, in primo luogo, nel sociale. Mancanza di lavoro, fame. Il Governo addossa anche alla Chiesa Cattolica la colpa di questo difficile stato di cose. A cagione di tale motivo inizia una vera e propria baruffa anticlericale. Il 1911 è la data di entrata in vigore della legge di separazione tra Stato e Chiesa; firmatario della stessa, il Ministro portoghese Costa. Lo stesso ministro, effettua una previsione, tempo due generazioni ed in Portogallo non ci saranno né Chiesa, né cattolici. Infatti, i ragazzi sfilano per le strade delle principali città. con al collo un cartello: "Né Dio, né religione!" Ora, se la chiesa è stata oscurantista, in certi periodi storici, non di meno lo è stato il Portogallo dell'epoca. Questa ondata illuminista ed anticlericale, non raggiunge i piccoli e lontanissimi paesi, perché le informazioni viaggiano lentissime; o non viaggiano affatto.
Indicare la sola Fatima destinataria delle nostre attenzioni storico/cinematografiche è riduttivo. Fatima, per forza di cose deve essere associata ad altri luoghi. Eccoli in sequenza, Aljustrel \luogo di nascita e residenza dei pastorelli/; Valinhos, zona adatta al pascolo; Loca do Cabeço; "Cova da Iria", è qui, a Cova, che la SS. Vergine appare ai pastorelli; ed è sempre qui che è stata eretta la Basilica. Ai menzionati luoghi, bisogna aggiungerne un altro Leirìa, sede del Vescovo.
Lucia è la più grande dei tre bambini coinvolti nei fatti di Fatima. I suoi cugini si chiamano: Francesco e Giacinta di 9 e 7 anni. Lucia, ne ha appena 10. Ad una decina di kilometri da Fatima, e precisamente a Villa Nuova d'Ourèm, si trova la sede del palazzo comunale.
I tre pastorelli scelgono giorno per giorno, un luogo più o meno vicino, dove portano a pascolare il gregge. Ad Aljustrel, fanno ritorno prima del tramontar del sole. La giornata è scandita da una serie di azioni. Giochi, pranzo, preghiera \recita del Santo Rosario/.

PRIMA APPARIZIONE DELL'ANGELO
Il luogo della prima apparizione dell'angelo è Loca do Cabeço. Per ovvi motivi non riporto il contenuto del dialogo. Di fatto, si tratta di una esperienza affascinante ed avvincente nello stesso tempo. Le parole che ascolterete dall'angelo sono invitanti ed estatiche. Il soprannaturale prende il sopravvento. Lucia ne fa una dettagliata descrizione.
SECONDA APPARIZIONE DELL'ANGELO
La seconda apparizione dell'angelo trova Lucia ed i cuginetti, presso il pozzo dietro casa in località Amiero. L'angelo si qualifica... ed inizia a parlare dei progetti divini preparati per loro. Siamo in pieno mese di agosto.
TERZA APPARIZIONE DELL'ANGELO
Loca do Cabeço. Mentre le prime due apparizioni sono preparatorie, in questa terza, avviene qualche cosa che va oltre lo straordinario.

I ragazzi non soffrono di allucinazioni. \Che fine ha fatto il rapporto del medico?/
4ª 15 Agosto 1917
5ª 13 Settembre 1917 Immensa folla radunata a Cova da Iria (circa 30.000 persone).
6ª 13 Ottobre 1917 giorno del grande segno promesso dalla Vergine (Nostra Signora del Rosario). 70.000 persone. Provate ad immaginare, siamo nel 1917 ... una pioggia fittissima ed improvvisamente ...
Tutto ciò che storicamente segue, da quella data ad oggi, \segreti, consegna degli stessi al Santo Padre, indicazione dell'anno in cui il Papa ne deve dare lettura, i colloqui con suor Lucia, le ulteriori apparizioni della SS. Vergine alla stessa, attentato a Giovanni Paolo II, spiegazione terzo segreto a cura dell'allora JOSEPH CARD. RATZINGER - Prefetto della Congregazione perla Dottrina della Fede/, e così via; lo lascio alla sensibilità dei lettori; tutti. Credenti o increduli. La diversità è un valore aggiunto. Se non vogliamo spegnere il lumicino rimasto, i Popoli devono iniziare a confrontarsi su ciò che unisce.
Madre Teresa diceva: "Esiste un solo Dio, ed egli è il Dio di tutti. Perciò è importante vedere tutti gli uomini come uguali davanti a Dio. Io ho sempre detto che dobbiamo aiutare un indù a diventare un indù migliore, un musulmano a diventare un musulmano migliore, e un cattolico a diventare un cattolico migliore".
