simone g Millennials as heroes? I wouldn't be so sure to write that notion off until you have watched the recent documentary called The Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World. I had my initial suspicions as much as most after all of the criticisms and preconceived prejudices surrounding millennials. However, directors Josh and Rebecca Tickell took it upon them themselves to rewrite the narrative of what it really means to be a millennial. The construction of this story begins first with what has happened in our history as well as past generations; and the cyclical nature of it. For this purpose, the directors bring in an author who has devoted his career to researching patterns from past generations and discovered a pattern every 80 years. The film goes back in time effortlessly and the audience can see the similarities between present times almost immediately. Similar events lead to an explanation for the characteristics of each generation like clockwork. And now, the Revolution Generation are the millennials. As highlighted in great detail by the Tickells, they are predicted to be our heroes for the problems we face today economically, politically, and even environmentally. Popular politician Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is shown as one of the youngest people in office shown fighting for the rights of herself and others. This film does a particularly wonderful job of maintaining the audience's attention and instilling inspiration among them. Not only is Revolution Generation effective at dismantling negative beliefs around millennials, but this documentary is also effective at motivating hope for the future. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/25/22 Full Review Audience Member The Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World used the millennials point-of-view to create a new and innovative take on social issues the world has been facing for far too long. Millennials have been seen as lazy and selfish. This documentary aims to break that stereotype and shine a positive light of hope on to millennials. With the perfect narration of a fellow millennial Michelle Rodriguez and great directors Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell, The Revolution Generation was done right. You can tell from the moment it starts to when it ends, Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell put a lot of heart into this movie. The Revolution Generation broke down America's history and explained a sequence of events that led up to a revolution in a generation. There are number of social issues that are discussed from the viewpoint of millennials. They are portrayed in this documentary doing what they can in their communities to make the future brighter for generations to come. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is featured in this documentary fighting for climate reform. Her, Shailene Woodley, and Corbin Bleu are often seen giving speeches about climate change as well. Joshua and Rebecca Harrell Tickell are huge climate advocates, and it shows in their film. Other issues such as women's rights, the Black Lives Matter movement, and lgbtq+ rights. The Revolution Generation was made to acknowledge America's past and present but, also to give hope that our future can be better. It was an inspiration to watch! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member The Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World illustrates the fight against global injustice in a highly empowering and beautifully designed project. The ingenious and award-winning filmmakers behind Kiss The Ground have created an eye-opening and gripping documentary. The film is narrated by Michelle Rodriguez, and it digs deep into the issues we as Americans are facing today. In addition to its incredible structure, cinematography, and composition, this picture shows the amount of time and effort put into it. The stunning film examines how new generations have been scrutinized throughout history and how ignorant people can be toward young adolescents who are fighting for change. A key purpose of Revolution Generation is to dispel precedented beliefs regarding global youth. It is argued that millennials play a critical role in our future and are not a threat. Evidence and information supporting this claim are provided. This documentary illuminates Millenials' fights to transform the world into a more unitary place by highlighting many topics, including social injustice, inequality, conservation tactics, Native American rights, LGTBQ+, student debt, and more. Utilizing the powerful voices of today's youth, Shaline Woodley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the audience is able to see individuals of mass influence step up and speak out on these matters. The Revolution Generation is a revolutionary film that aims to end global injustices. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Coming after their equally invigorating and enlightening conservation documentary, Kiss the Ground, directors Joshua Tickell and Rebecca Harrell Tickell return with their newest activist film, the Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World, a documentary that seeks to investigate the harsh and demeaning stereotypes regarding millennials while highlighting the fascinating and inspiring wave of millennials joining in on and leading activist and political pursuits, marking them as one of the most progressive and politically active generations to date. The film starts with the discussion of the millennial generation, remarking on the stigmas that surround them by discussing the financial and political crises and events that have placed them in such light, discussing the massive student debt that weighs on many with no hope of removing, the inflation costs that see prices rise and wages remain stagnant, the fall of the housing market that still marks the economy today, the systemic oppression imbued within our government that keeps many within lower classes burdened, etc. The film jumps from here with an impressive discussion on the sociological structures and repetitious personas that mark every generation, highlighting the near-predictable historical events that only seem to repeat without prevention. The film quickly becomes a single message: to use the events and turmoils of the past now and improve the state of the future with them. Revolution Generation incorporates the discussion of generational deviations with the activist movements that most define this current era and no longer stands as simply a defense for the millennial generation but a plea and a statement of encouragement, to utilize humanity and voice, to dismiss the wait for a turn of change within society and create change yourself. The film's devotion to this message is shown by its impressive cast of interviewees, with celebrity activists such as Shailene Woodley, Corbin Bleu, and Michelle Rodriguez, who narrates the film, as well as political and activist leaders such as Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Renaldo Pearson, Chase Iron Eyes, and many more, all coming together for the advocacy of effective action through protest and political pursuit. The film gracefully incorporates both the subject of the millennial generation as well as activism to deliver its message earnestly and genuinely, holding respect for its subject matter in apparent high regard. It is something inspiring to see and something encouraging to witness, something that seeks more than a witness in the audience, but human kindness and hope. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and the World directed by Josh and Rebecca Tickell takes us through a fast pace and multifaceted narrative of issues going on currently. They educate viewers on the vitally important role millennials are playing and will continue to play for time to come. They are not "lazy entitled narcissists," as a clip from the Stephen Colbert show included in the film states. But rather shows that they are hard-working, determined, and passionate individuals striving toward a grand pivot in society. The thought-provoking narration by Michelle Rodriguez, a millennial herself, urges viewers to truly self-reflect in a way that allows them to see this movie from a broader perspective. This movie dives into an impressive amount of topics that are then shown to be all correlated, and makes interesting connections between issues one would have never thought to be dependent upon each other. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Award-winning directors Joshua and Rebecca Tickell have created a truly masterful and cinematically beautiful film with Revolution Generation: How Millennials Can Save America and The World. This outstanding documentary calls out systematic America and demands change from all individuals for a better world. Discussing topics of the utmost importance this film communicates the injustices and inequalities within our environment and politics that are destructive to our society. Touching upon environmental issues such as climate change, renewable energy, and clean water as well as political issues pertaining to reproductive rights, student debt, and LGBTQ+, women, and indigenous rights, this film is a step forward in creating a significantly more diverse, equal, and united community. Michelle Rodriguez, who utilizes her prominence to advocate for and speak out on issues critical to the advancement of a clean and stable environment, provides the narration and voice for the entire project. The accomplishments made by this video in communities all around the world are critical in eradicating the injustices we encounter and witness every day.
