Emilie Black Cinema Crazed ... like Jurassic Park, remote island location for rich tourists and how to get there, meets Hard Target with zombies ... Rated: 3/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror The Rezort, much like its zombies, seems to be missing several important parts. Those that still exist don't come together to form anything resembling a coherent plot and, more importantly, they are inescapably dull. Rated: 3/10 Oct 7, 2019 Full Review Jennifer Heaton Alternative Lens The basic concept of Jurassic Park but with zombies has so much potential ... but The Rezort takes itself far too seriously to be enjoyable. Rated: 5/10 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review Kat Hughes THN The ReZort fortunately stands out from the group as it offers a new spin on the well-worn genre. Rated: 3/5 Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Joe Lipsett Bloody Disgusting The Rezort isn't bad per se, but there's literally nothing to help distinguish it from other likeminded projects. Once the premise has been made clear and the zombies get loose, it is clear that you've seen this movie a thousand times. Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Deborah Wee The New Paper (Singapore) Unfortunately, The Rezort is a film that wants to be taken seriously, but is so lacking in originality that it simply falls apart. Yellowfur D Combining the refugee problem with zombies is quite novel. As a zombie film, it can only be said to be average, and the protagonist's halo is a bit heavy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Liam D It's a concept that has been done before but it's a lot of dumb fun Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/23/22 Full Review Audience Member What can I say about The Rezort that isn't just mentioning faeces, trying to find positives in this film is like listening to a good drake song, not impossible… just improbable. The premise of said film is in the aftermath of an apocalypse of zombies a corporation decides to monopolize on the excess undead by creating a lovechild of Jurassic Park and the walking dead. Great on paper. Unfortunately, the idea misses the mark by several thousand miles, packed full of clichés and common film tropes in an unoriginal fashion. Like Sharknado but trying to be serious, this is as good of an idea as a Ciggie in a petrol station, with pretty much the same result too. With a confusing and empty ending, you may as well get up and do the dishes, trust me you will spend less effort engaging and 1000x more fulfilment by the end. In conclusion… just don't! This is quite possibly the worst thing I have reviewed in all my 10 minutes of reviewing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member The slick production and set design are ultimately wasted, as not one single person who would choose to visit, work at, operate, or invest in the title 'rezort' in any way whatsoever is a sympathetic figure (least of all Jassa Ahluwalia, whose faux roadman accent in between alternating bouts of whimpering and loudmouthed braggadocio is unconvincing to the point of being insulting). The one character with the integrity to do something to shut the resort down is lambasted for her choice, which is akin to people paying to go to Auschwitz to take potshots at emaciated prisoners and pose for selfies with their corpses getting angry at somebody for liberating them instead. It is truly astonishing that the "undead rights activists" are presented as bad guys for uncovering an ongoing literal genocide. (Also, sorry, but if a group of rich idiots on safari get mauled by the lions they hoped to slaughter, it's really not a tragedy. Unless the lions get put down.) If the filmmakers set out to make us root for the undead they did an excellent job of it, but given that the simpering posho whose murder tourism contributed to funding the atrocity on display is supposed to be the heroine here, I doubt that was their intention. Nevertheless, the technical production is superb and if nothing else the screenplay should be commended for introducing a new element to zombie lore which bridges the divide between runners and walkers: "The fresher they are, the faster they are." All in all I would have greatly preferred if this movie had made the brave choice of making Sadie the protagonist and leaned more into its smart anticapitalist undercurrent, but I guess these days we have to look to South Korea for that. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member They didn't skip on the make-up and effects that's for sure 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 but it's so predictable and too much horror movie cliches. The black/mixed race teenager died first then the Asian. Don't even get me started on Melanie. Ugh! She wouldn't even pull the trigger even if her life depends on it. Probably one of the protagonists you'd love to hate. So annoyed by her "damsel in distress" persona. Only time she actually "helped" was near the end of the movie. Never laughed so hard after hearing that Sadie's part of the "zombie rights activist group". It's just so corny. But hey, it's sort of a "good" movie to pass the time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member The zombie apocalypse has been and gone and humanity has won and is very close to living life like it once was. However, with every apocalypse comes a business opportunity and someone who obviously had watched Jurassic Park too many times has come up with the ingenious idea of keeping the last remaining hoards of zombies locked away on an island resort and for the right amount of money you can holiday on such a resort and go a hunting! I mentioned Jurassic Park and it really does copy the same template because one of the guests on the island is not who they seem and they have turned up to wreck havoc and as you can imagine zombie armageddon starts all over again. I liked the idea behind this story, there aren't many new things you can do in the world of zombie apocalypse movies but this was a neat twist and it was ok, not great but entertaining enough that I watched to the credits and the final scenes that set up a sequel that will never happen.
