Claudio C @Claudio666 Jan 1 A Dark Period in the Spanish History (12,170 – 01 Jan 2026) In 1940, in Madrid, the naive Pepita arrives from Cordoba to visit her sister Hortensia that is in prison. Tensi is communist and is pregnant, and Pepi becomes her contact with her husband Felipe. Pepi is apolitical but helps Tensi and Felipe, who is wounded by a shot. She befriends Paulino, who is a leader wanted by Franco’s men, and falls for him. She tries everything to get pardon for her sister Tensi, who is senteced to death. "La voz dormida", aka. "The Sleeping Voice" (2011), is a beautiful Spanish movie. The story shows the dark period of the Spanish history, after the Civil War, when Franco becomes dictator of Spain. Although based on the novel of Dulce Chacón, the events are not real but a dramatization of the situation of women from both and neither side, in Franco’s dictatorship. The acting and the reconstitution of the 40’s are top-notch. My vote is seven.
