Audience Member It is hard to even classify this as a movie as there is no real plot or story line; it is just fighter footage with some intermittent dialog. It is hard to watch even with the benefit of MST3000. "I really think there is more nothing in this movie than any movie we've seen." - Mike Nelson Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member he Starfighters: 1 out of 10: The Starfighters is an infomercial about the Lockheed F-104 "Starfighterâ?. A fighter jet that according to the infomercial only keeps crashing so much because of pilot error. Seriously the entire movie is stock footage of the plane, usually being refueled, with snippets of pilot âdramaâ? consisting mostly of future congressman Robert Dornan being told by his dad that he is a candyass cause he flies fighter jets instead of bombers. His father (who confusingly is a congressman in the movie) calls the base commander to complain his son is stuck in this dead-end top gun school instead of flying a bomber like a real man. I am at a complete loss how any of this improved the publicâ(TM)s view of the Lockheed F-104 "Starfighterâ?. I can tell you if I donâ(TM)t see one more scene of an inflight refueling in my life I can die a happy man. Mystery Science Theater 3000 Season 7 Episode 12: The Starfighters: 7 out of 10: Look Mike and the robots do the best they can do with this. The skits are above average as is the riffing. But there is only so much you can do with an hour and a half of stock footage of a jet being refueled. They run out of jokes. Heck, they run out of jokes about running out of jokes. This is one of the more painful MST3K episodes but certainly no fault of Mike, The Bot, or the writers. They stepped up to the plate and did better than one could expect. With such a boring movie it just wasnâ(TM)t enough. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An extra star for accurate explanation of corn detasseling. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Extra star for very interesting explanation of corn detasseling. As an Iowan, I seek out movies with scenes dealing realistically with detasseling. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member I have seen this horrible motion picture on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" numerous times that I actually wouldn't mind watching the version by itself but there's not even a full-length version on YouTube. Jeez, did the U.S. government do a neat job disavowing this movie's existence? Simply put, it's a complete bore with only semblances of character, plot, and conflict. Incidentally I did vote for Robert Dornan...'s Democratic opponent for U.S. Representative (California) in my first election. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member There's a whole lot of nothing in this movie. Unfollowable characters, a slim plot, and many long slow scenes of planes. It drags on to every last minute. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews
