Could be lower, but if you like the genre of Russian sci-fi horror, it’s entertaining and enjoyable. Worth a random watch on a Tuesday night, the kind of movies you don’t watch because it’s “good”, you watch because you like independent films, and out of curiosity. Good especial effects, intriguing, and personally I liked Milena’s role as Anya.

Not a terrible movie per se, but it's definitely the case of an interesting concept that gets lost somewhere on its way to the finishing line. The VFX and SFX both practical and digital are quality as well as the leading lady (Milena Radulovic), who really sells the role. Problems lie in its pacing, clarity, supporting case and generic sound design. Again, not entirely unwatchable, fans of the genre or films like Annihilation, or The Abyss might find some enjoyment out of this one... 4.3/10

For those who enjoy films such as Doom, Resident Evil, and horror classics such as The Thing, Superdeep is your kind of film—delivering a fun concept, incredible set designs and horror aspects, which are sometimes unsettling and positive. But sadly, Superdeep has many bland elements, including the central performances and the core plot, which all feel vague and dull, with some exceptions in the third act. Those who are seeking a new horror film should still most certainly check this one out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film, but I warn you, it's not for everyone. This has one of the most interesting premises, yet the story is squandered. At times it's hard to follow (looking at you, beginning of the movie that has nothing to do with the main plot even though you make us think it does), and clearly some things happen solely to move the plot along (the scientists who make the absolute worst decisions imaginable), and even the setting (80's secret Russian lab… for no discernable reason). So why the high rating? I'm a sucker for practical effects monster movies. The special effects are fantastic and disgusting (yes!). It would've been nice to see this story told through the words of more competent writers, but it's Russian, so at least it's devoid of current-day Hollyweird politiks. The lead is played by Milena Radulovic, who really needs to be in more movies. She's simply fantastic. If you can turn your brain off to the story, this "Thing" homage is quite entertaining, just don't get lost in what does & doesn't make sense.
