Cyrus K OH GOD WHY DOES THIS MOVIE EXIST! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/22 Full Review Audience Member My god! Is that a CGI Christmas Movie? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Carlotta 4 I feel the need to start this off saying that I'm already a bit prejudiced against Christmas specials. Oh, not the MORALS that they want to teach (loving each other and selfless giving is totally fine) but shoving Santa/Jesus down our throats with constant "tis the season and nothing at all can be imperfect during christmas and everyone is SO HAPPY ALL THE TIME THIS TIME OF YEAR" makes my gag reflex start churning. So that being said that I'm already not the target audience for christmas specials: The shift to 3D animation could have been worse than it actually turned out. Now it's not GOOD but it could definitely have been worse. Traditional animation is pretty expensive and these are direct to DVD sequels, so I'm going to actually list that as a plus--the "it could have been so much worse" bonus. I'd say the animation is about on par with if not sliiiiiiightly better than the Barbie movies. Can we stop turning Odette into a swan? I get that's the brand franchise and all, but it really only worked in the first film and has been unnecessarily tacked on in every one since. The "spirit of christmas" defeating Rothbart is dumb. I can't believe that's the climax it makes so little sense and triggers that previously mentioned gag reflex so much. ...frankly that's all I remember about the plot because the rest of it was pretty generic. Well, generic minus the sudden jukebox musical of popular songs at the end, oh THAT was a special form of torment. So in summary: it's a direct to dvd film made to target little girls and parents who will buy anything with the word "christmas" on it. Nothing here for adults, but really--were you expecting this to be a good film? The title is "The Swan Princess Christmas." You knew what you were getting into. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/12/18 Full Review Audience Member Someone needs pucker practice. Princess Odette and Prince Derek are busy helping their kingdom prepare for the Christmas holiday. Their woodland friends help them in preparation. Prince Derek continues to see a curious cat around the area as they prepare for the holiday; little does he know, the cat can see the ghost of Rothbart, who hopes to return from the dead to take over the kingdom. Can the cat and Rothbart thwart Christmas and rule the kingdom or will Odette, Derek, and their friends thwart their plans again? "You said there ain't no bad ideas." "There ain't. But there sure are a lot of lousy ones." Richard Rich, director of The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain, The King and I, the Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Treasure, and The Trumpet of the Swan, delivers The Swan Princess Christmas. The storyline for this series was fun and had a nice blend of worthwhile storyline and Christmas. The songs selected for the film were entertaining and I enjoyed the new animation style. "I will hunt you down and send you back where you belong." My girlfriend put my daughter and I onto this show that she loved as a kid and we threw this on while decorating the Christmas tree yesterday. This is the first time we've viewed the new animation style and we were pleasantly surprised. This is far from an all time classic holiday cartoon or addition to the genre, but this was better than I anticipated and definitely worth a viewing. "Someone woke up on the wrong side of the lily pad." Grade: C Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm gonna go jump off a cliff now.
