Audience Member After an iffy start, I liked this movie....it became interesting from about 20 minutes in - It turns into a good thriller. There's some nice suspense.... Too many co incidents though. It reminded me of the 1985 film 'The Hitcher'. The actual truck drive was very well done. Silly title for a movie....and very deceptive. Worth a go. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Entretenida película coreana, sin ningún gran atributo pero que logra mantenerte atento. Bien por hyundai.... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member "Korean Week", Day 5. Predictable and not too original horror/thriller that is still entertaining and somewhat suspenseful, and definitely worth a watch for fans of the genre. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Hyeong-jin Kwon latest thriller Teureok or The Truck is an okay thriller I guess with enough suspense and somewhat originality to it. I liked the whole idea with the killer on the loose, and I currently watching all of his films and so far this is my favourite. Chul-min is a simple truck driver whose usual cargo is liquor, vegetables and other necessities. When his daughter is diagnosed with congenital heart disease, he scrambles to borrow money from friends to pay for the operation. Unable to raise the necessary funds, he tries his luck at gambling. When he loses everything, the gang boss who runs the gambling house gives him an unusual job: to deliver some freshly stabbed corpses to a faraway province. On his nerve racking journey carrying dead bodies in his truck, Chul-min turns to the radio for company only to hear about a serial killer on the loose. After spotting a car that has fallen into a ditch, he is flagged down by a policeman who is heading to the same province. When Chul-min unravels the real identity of his passenger, his nightmare really begins. I think the story was a great idea, though it did lag and drag most times but otherwise pretty good, I haven't seen many Korean Thrillers. The whole Killer on the loose thing was awesome, But I felt the ending could have been better and a little less predictable. But the whole build-up of suspense about the guy next to you was great. The acting is pretty good Our lead I was mixed on but our killer was epic. Sometimes in can be very bad. The special effects are pretty graphic with all the murder scenes and dead people, I am stunned it only holds a 15 rating here. Some nice scenery, great music what else is there? Overall my finally verdict is recommended it is at least worth one watch. The idea was good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Man! Imagine this gritty situation happened in real life so sad. Anyway it was a ok thriller but there were a few moments think the obvious to happen and say ah i know. Kept me watching of how this truck driver manage to carry a number dead bodies in the back of the truck by a crime sydicate for money was a insane journey. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member There's a long line of movie-world worst days ever and this has got to be up there. The Truck is a film that was ruined by my own expectations and an incredibly convoluted and coincidental plot. Chul-Min needs a lot of money for his daughter's heart operation. He enters a high stakes poker game where he is cheated out of his money. During the chaos that erupts from his protests, he discovers a gangster boss murdering people. They agree to spare his life and give him all the money he won if he dumps the bodies. He sees a car accident, picks up a stray cop, and gets entangled with a serial killer. With so much going on the film loses its focus. You soon forget about the dying daughter, just as you forget about the bodies in the back of the truck. There are some chances for interesting moments, but the dynamics between the characters are never fleshed out enough. It tries to be different by shoving a lot into the story, but it's just chaotic. It's enjoyable as a thriller, but the screenwriter uses a few too many coincidences to advance the story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
