Bored billionaire Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) decides to entertain himself by stealing a Monet from a reputed museum. When Catherine Banning (Rene Russo), an investigator for the museum's insurance company, takes an interest in Crown, a complicated back-and-forth game with romantic undertones begins between them. In an attempt to find out where Banning's loyalties lie, Crown returns the painting and essentially turns himself in, hoping that Banning's feelings for him will lead to an escape.

Wanted to like this movie but Russo’s performance felt too forced and overacted. I couldn’t get past the unbecoming wig choice/hairstyle and look for her. It didn’t feel natural at all. Kristin Scott Thomas I feel would have been a more perfect match for the role. Of course they’re acting but her overacting broke the fourth wall throughout… it didn’t feel believable to me.

The Thomas Crown Affair is Brosnan at his best: a wealthy, suave, and dashing gentleman with a secret. Only this time, instead of being an intelligence agent, he's a thief. His charm and chemistry with costar Rene Russo are compelling, but the mystery of the stolen painting quickly unravels the predictability of the plot.
