Motorcycle racer Lyle Swann (Fred Ward) is cruising through the Mexican desert when he accidentally stumbles into a time-travel experiment and finds himself transported back to the Old West of the 1870s. There he encounters an attractive local woman (Belinda Bauer) and a gang of criminals led by Porter Reese (Peter Coyote). Lyle's motorized bike is impressive in the past -- until it runs out of gas. Now Lyle must rely on his wits to take care of business and return to his own time.

Chance R This is one of my top 20 movies growing up. Great entertainment and fun. Might be a little corny but it totally inspired me as a 10 year old in the theater and interestingly gave me a sense of how humans and technology interact. I could see how watching this for the first time in 2023, you'd miss a lot of what this film had to offer. This was kind of like Firefly for it's day. The time travel isn't any more unbelievable as any other time travel movie plot. This one and Time Bandits are big in my book. BTTF, too, but these were first! The love story incest thing was not such a big deal to me. Kind of a gotcha at the end. Get over it. He was super cool with his neat bike and helmet HUD and she was hot. The only thing that would have been better is if the bike itself was the time machine. But that would be a different story. Music was 80's awesome. The Bass lines were great! Go Mike Nesmith. The poster and the logo were really well done IMO as well. I re-watch it every few years. I'm watching it right now! He's telling her about the necklace. : ) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/23 Full Review Addison M Not a particularly ambitious time-travel flick. Yet, the absence of any significant errors makes Time Rider a worthy film; worthy of the time to spend watching. With a list of "B" actors, and newbie/up-and-comers (e.g., Fred Ward), it may not be "To Kill a Mockingbird" or "1917," but at the end you won't say "I wish I had those two hours back. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review tiago d Filme incrivel, final ótimo. Época que cinema era magia, invefelizmente as pessoas esqueceram disso! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Timerider is a good low-budget cult classic which was a cable favorite in my house from ‘83-‘84. Modern audiences and film school dropouts/auteur wanna-bes have scoffed at the straightforwardness of Timerider and its plot but it's efficient and entertaining. Check this out if you want a fun diversion as well as another awesome performance from the late great Fred Ward. Rest In Peace, Fred Ward. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Timerider has a motorcyclist accidentally ride through an area used for a time transfer experiment, landing himself in the 19th century western times in New Mexico. Sounds great as an 80's concept, except the character Lyle Swan is rather stale, relies on jokes that adhere to him being from another time, and just facing off against a bunch of Western baddies. It has its charm in a few places, but the film definitely does not live up to the potential of its core idea. It gets 2 stars not necessarily because its really bad, but because it lacks excitement and isn't a fun as it should've been. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Cheesy b-grade sci-fi-western. Perfectly watchable but utterly forgettable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
