martin a An enjoyable modern horror film, which sees a soon-to-be-demolished tower block and its remaining residents witness a 15-year-olds murder and do nothing. One resident however does try to intervene but is beaten and refuses to discuss the matter with the police. Sometime later residents awaken to find themselves being shot one by one by a marksman, and with no phones, internet, and no means of escape they do what they can to survive. My grumbles are, that when they climb down the lift shaft and try to open a door that is blocked, they don't try to even open the other door. Also, the drug dealer survived, which is sad as he was a really nasty piece of work, yet the nice guy fell to his death! Sheridan Smith is outstanding in the film as is, Ralph Brown, Julie Graham. are Jill Baker Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave j Low income housing units that were once used in WWII are now being used to house low income earners centering on one particular building in which someone was killed resulting to vigilantism sniping every resident living in complex. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Not a bad film but a few flaws in the plot I mean somebody would of noticed a sniper killer cop taking out all the residents on the top floor and how would he be able to stop each and everyone of them from getting a signal from there Mobile phone hmmm not too realistic Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review r 9 Despite having some potential, 'Tower Block' makes for a cringe watch. The writing, in my opinion at least, is the problem here. There's a decent cast list and a respectable enough premise, but things fall apart when the characters act and talk - the dialogue is iffy, while some of the character decisions are very odd. Sheridan Smith (Becky) and Jack O'Connell (Kurtis) are two capable leads and give solid performances, though their roles are average - especially Kurtis, who is so over-the-top at times it's painful to see. As noted, the plot is alright - the way it's written isn't. The ending is rather poor, especially with the 'twist' (?). I wanted to enjoy this, and in a few minor moments I did, but all the negative parts unfortunately weigh it down tremendously. If you want a story regarding this type of building, then I'd recommend 2011's 'Attack the Block'. This one, though not atrocious, isn't all that good sadly. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Great heart-stopping hook that sets the disquieting tone for the rest of the film. Sheridan Smith is excellent. *Avoid reading the spoiler blurb and just got with the ride! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review max b I want to watch the film of tower block 2012 film. Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard The film is efficiently made and more realist than some of its ilk, in that the desperate inhabitants seem credible. What it lacks is directorial flair. Rated: 2/5 Sep 21, 2012 Full Review Phelim O'Neill Guardian It's not a bad idea for a movie, but what we get is undercooked, with poor logic and even poorer pacing conspiring to prevent any much-needed tension to build. Rated: 2/5 Sep 20, 2012 Full Review Simon Crook Empire Magazine An unusual, scuzzy setting for a thriller that delivers with brutal simplicity. Rated: 3/5 Sep 16, 2012 Full Review Alistair Lawrence Common Sense Media What's missing is a fully rounded plot and any real character development. Rated: 3/5 Oct 11, 2023 Full Review Joseph Walsh CineVue At very best, this cheap horror is a run-of-the-mill British exploitation flick with nothing new to say; at worst, it's classist, deeply conservative and completely narrow-minded. Rated: 2/5 Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed Though suspension of disbelief is a pre-requisite, [this] is a rather gripping thriller...
