william w This hard hitting film delivers some tough messages. It confronts race, police and justice in a compelling piece of movie making. It leaves you thinking both during and after the movie. It is a thoughtful drama that is well acted and directed by Chris Baxter. It's tough to watch at times. But worth it. Give it a try. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A crime drama with heart. You get to see overall, a complex representation of criminal justice set in Los Angeles. As the movie progresses it immerses you further into the everyday struggles of those who are embroiled in constant confrontation, situations most of us might have the luxury to ignore. The dialogue was realistic and natural and fitting of the genre. I also enjoyed the banter between female and male cop partners, with the traditional roles flipped. The movie looked like it could have been shot on film as well, adding to the grit. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I found this Indie a tough watch but I also knew that was the point. It was a gut punch of the hardships of being a cop and the class war that rages on. The odd similarities between the struggles of a cop trying to do the right thing and of inner city youth trying to figure out a way through. "The Horror..." - It felt like someone lived both the lives of a cop and drug dealer in those small things that kept coming out. And...finally... Can't we all just get along people...man! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Unlawful Justice really taps into the temperature of the times. I loved this film for how profoundly and accurately it told this story encapsulating the major problems we have as a society around race, justice, classism. Following the the character Remy, we see how hard he has it. Trying to take care of his sick daughter and pay medical bills that a police officers' salary can barely afford, we feel for him as the pressure of it all makes him unravel. The actors were stellar and the entire story had me wrapped around it's celluloid finger. This is a must see by all, if not for the moral lesson, but for the riveting storytelling and quality filmmaking we have here. Highly Recommend! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Unlawful Justice delivers a cinematic reflection of society for those dispossesed by the system. I think this film really bucks a lot of conventions in that even those who try to good in this environment are ultimately beaten down by it, illustrating the stacked nature of power imbalance in our society. Cinematography and editing were also really solid as was the score, it's a solid indie film worth checking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This was an interesting ride through the day-to-day life of a financially struggling police officer and a poverty-stricken teenager. Their disparate paths collide with consequences that change the both of their lives forever. The film, very well crafted with what appears to be a meager budget, conveys much drama and pathos from everyday urban life, as well as shedding some light on the crushing bureaucracy of the police force. A quite capable cast delivers all around solid performances. I think this is a cop drama that really sets itself apart from the pack. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
