This film follows the travels of three elderly Jewish women whose lives have been touched by the Holocaust. First, Rivka (Shulamit Adar) is in Poland with her husband, and, when their tour bus breaks down, so does her mental stability. Then, in Paris, Regine (Liliane Rovère) receives word that her father, who she thought had perished in the camps, is alive in Lithuania. Finally, Vera (Esther Gorintin) voyages from Russia to Israel to find her cousin, but is taken aback by cultural differences.

Audience Member A beautifully constructed film with magnificent perfomances by all involved, 'Voyages' is a little-known gem about three Jewish women trying to reconstruct their lives and family histories many years after the Holocaust. Finkiel, who previously worked with Kieslowski on his 'Colours' trilogy, has absorbed some of the Polish film-maker's influence but this stands on its own right as a subtle and emotional tour-de-force. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member A very powerful picture. I saw it at the Cleveland Cinematheque several years ago. The story is always indirect, but when the pieces come together the attentive view cries because the lives of the characters come so close to one's own. Very few films transfer the emotional power of drama like this. I think it helps that the primary language of the film is French. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member (***): Thumbs Up A well-acted and touching film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews
