Audience Member Short but neat. The animation is incredible and the story is nice with some good characters. I wouldn't mind a full length film adaption. Worth checking out for any sci-fi monster fan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member Some nice CGI doesn't make up for an unimpressive-looking monster and a laughably lame robot piloted by an old man. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A lovely (if very short) homage to classic Japanese 1960s/1970s giant robot vs giant alien films. It takes good CGI to look like city models from Godzilla! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Even though its a movie, I think its too short to be a movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow. I was very impressed. The sheer quality and beauty of the animation made my jaw drop. I've never seen anything quite like it. And the whole feel of the movie - just marvelous. The story itself is nothing original (which is to be expected given the intent of the film) but is certainly told very, very well. I was also quite impressed on how they overcame (for the most part) the "creepiness" factor in creating animations of humans that attempt to resemble, as much as possible, real-life humans. I was a bit disappointed by the length - left me wanting more. Hope to see more along these lines sometime soon. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Negadon really wants you to believe it's a long lost kaiju flick someone just unearthed from a vault somewhere, and it actually comes pretty close to that goal. Unfortunately the pursit of that goal involves a lot of very fine details, and paying attention to the fine details is what reveals all the flaws in Negadon. In spite of some admirable efforts, the retro feel is only partialy succesful. Tremendous effort went into making the film look a good 40 years old, yet the dynamic camera angles throughout the peice are far too modern to come from such a film. Likewise, all the props are painstakingly crafted to look like little models, but they're surrounded by state-of-the-art fire and explosion effects that ruin the miniature feel. And I'm sorry, but no cheep synth ditty can hold a candle to an Akira Ifukube orchestral score, not by a long shot. That said, the idea of an older, jaded scientist piloting a giant robot rather than a brash teen is very interesting. Also, the moody, brooding nature of the story, while somewhat pretentious, favorably recals the far too brief era when kaiju films were serious science fiction rather than kiddie explosion fests. It falls short of its mark, but Negadon is still worth a look. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
