dave s War of the Planets is a noble attempt, but is ultimately thwarted by its low budget and limited talent. Director Antonio Margheriti, the Italian equivalent of Roger Corman, throws together a sci-fi opus involving a strange life form that manifests itself in the form of gas in an effort to take over Earth. While some of the special effects are passable, others are downright hilarious, including the ultra-strange New Year's Eve dance that takes place in zero gravity outside a space station. Equally odd is the fact that the Earthlings decide to attack the alien mist with bullets and lasers when it would seem more logical to simply point an industrial fan in the direction of the fog and just blow it away. To top it off, the dubbing from Italian to English is brutal at times. War of the Planets isn't all bad, but it's not very good. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
