Jacob B Nothing special. The actors are competent, some of the effects are passable and there is decent action and stunts but Warlords of Atlantis is otherwise a boring film with a thin plot, generic characters and set design that, while not awful, doesn't do a lot to convince me that this is an undersea kingdom. At the very least, I'd say I wouldn't feel tempted to go to Atlantis as it's depicted in this film. Overall, just an unexciting adventure that's very much being done on a budget. Go watch the Atlantis film that Disney made instead, if you're looking for memorable characters and a visually stunning depiction of the Lost Empire. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/11/23 Full Review martin a An enjoyable Sci-fi romp as a scientist and his father set out on an expedition to find Atlantis but forget to tell the rest of the crew! When a gold statue is found and brought to the surface a bad old Octopus captures all but two of the crew and drags them to the underwater city. The leaders of the city want to keep the scientist with them, but the others are sent to be workers. And due to only being able to breathe the air for a few days they must have an operation to have gills implanted. The scenes are breathtaking and a big-budget must have been given for this film. The Octopus and the ship at the end is just great, they certainly do not make films like this anymore. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film from my childhood. Effects were good for the time and the music was excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member WOW......WOW.....WOW.....WOW.........GENIUS......FANTASTIC......AMAZING.......I HAVE JUST SEEN THIS MOVIE 4 THE 1ST TIME N THINK THAT THIS IS SUCH A GREAT MOVIE 2 WATCH......its got a good cast of actors/actresses throughout this movie......I think that doug McClure (.R.I.P.), peter Gilmore (.R.I.P.), shane rimmer, John Ratzenberger (from the brilliant tv series cheers), derry power, play good roles/parts throughout this movie......I think that the director of this action/adventure/sci-fi/fantasy movie had done a great job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie.....I think that this is such a classics movie 2 watch,.......WARNING THIS MOVIE CONTAINS STROBE LIGHTNING EFFECTS THROUGHOUT SOME SCENES THROUGHOUT THIS MOVIE....... The film was the fourth action-fantasy collaboration between Kevin Connor and Doug McClure. The first three were made by Amicus Productions who had then wound up so this movie was made at different studio. A large amount of footage was shot on the island of Gozo. Box Office The film was the 15th most successful movie in the UK in 1978 Novelization The novelisation by Paul Victor was published in 1978, as a tie-in to the film, by Futura Publications Limited. Told entirely from the point of view of Greg Collinson, it follows the movie more or less faithfully. Notable changes, however, include the addition of a fourth crew member, Chuck, and the attack by flying fish - which in the film occurs as the surface-dwellers are escaping across the causeway - happens much earlier during their approach to Vaar. Warlords of Atlantis is a 1978 British science fiction/fantasy film about a trip to the lost world of Atlantis. The movie was directed by Kevin Connor from a screen play by Brian Hayles. It was filmed in color with monaural sound and English dialogue, and runs for 96 minutes. Warlords of Atlantis received a Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rating of PG. It was novelised by Paul Victor. The film has also been released under the title Warlords of the Deep. I think that this is such a fantastic movie 2 watch, its got such a great cast throughout this movie......I think that this is such an entertaining movie 2 watch its such a great movie 2 watch with a good cast throughout this movie...... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Thin in story, in fact, the movie starts to get dull as soon as the characters arrive in Atlantis. The characters are fun, and the plot is simple enough. The monsters and effects are the real joy in the movie though, I always enjoyed seeing those pop up.
