Audience Member This being my first post in the Rotten Tomato Vine and my first attempt at rating a movie, I am unsure as to whether to rank this movie against (1) all movies I have ever seen, (2) sports movies, (3) winter sports movies, or (4) skiing movies. My original intent in buying the VHS in the `80's was to see and hear the video of the Title Track, "Beyond the Edge", by Dan Fogelberg, an unparalled singer-songwriter-multiinstrumentalist. My first impression of the introductory video was that this is the most unFogelberg-like song I've ever heard, but the skiing video was so good that it didn't bother me too much, and the song DID fit the video. For the first two weeks I owned the movie, I watched only the introduction, the music video. Then one Friday evening, more or less as a joke, my wife and three of our four children sat down with me and the movie for our Family Movie Night. We thought it would be a joke on the kids to start off making them listen to a Dan Fogelberg song, then watch a few minutes of the skiing, and when the kids started what we knew would be inevitable complaining, we were going to switch to The Ghost and Mr. Chicken or some such movie. My wife and I are both big Fogelberg fans, and the kids would always yukk and make all sorts of unhuman contortions with their faces when they heard Dan's beautiful singing and playing. The movie began. First of all, the song was so unFogelberg-like, the kids didn't know who it was. They liked the dangerous skiing during the introduction. Then, as we all began to watch the part of the movie no one in the family had seen, we began to snicker, then laugh, then howl, with occasional guffaws. Not only was the skiing, and other sporting events, spectacular, Warren Miller was absolutely hilarious while seemingly attempting to sound serious. We watched the entire hour and a half movie and were truly entertained, even if our sides did hurt before the end of the show. When it was over, the children wanted to watch it again. They insisted on watching it again. Warren Miller's Beyond the Edge deserves a 10. We recommend it heartily. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
